Crystal clear dark brown color with a pine and charred malt aroma. Aroma comes through in the flavor with cocoa and dark chocolate. Medium bodied and not overly bitter. Delicious, easy drinking black IPA.

Canned 10/21/25
Deep brown with a hint of amber on the edges. Fluffy sandy head. Good retention with layered lacing.
Nose is a nice mix of burnt malt, citrus, and a grass meets pine needle note.
Flavor follows suit. Slightly toasty malts with a citrus over pine resin kicker.
Mouthfeel is firm, good carbonation level, and finished in a dry bitterness.

Packaged October 21st, enjoyed on December 21st. Poured from a pint can into my Dogfish Head shaped pint glass.
Clear umber to burnt umber gradient with auburn highlights supporting a bone cap. Rocky lacing; superior retention.
Clean malt aroma with moderate grassy/citrus-tinged hop notes.
Moderate roast on the palate entry suggests medium-roast coffee, toasted hazelnuts and walnuts, and a hint of peppercorn and stale tobacco. Moderate bitterness suggests baker's chocolate, orange zest, wild grass, root beer and clove. Fairly dry, slightly earthy finish.
Chewy, well carbonated, yet crisp with a little bite. ABV reasonably well concealed.
Well balanced, easy drinking example of the style.

16oz can from Boise Co-op. Near black pour with a creamy beige head, spotty lacing. Light roasty aroma, cola. Taste is burnt toast, bitter, sweet, cola. Easy drinking, smooth and really tasty.

canned 10/21/27, into a tulip on 12/10/25. Pours black. 1/2 finger of tan/ off white foam. Not a BAD duration but not noteworthy. No laving. Not much smell. I consulted the BA description of a black IPA and can’t help but think this must not be a good example. Some bitterness, some barely perceptible malt, more as it warms. Body on the thin side.
