Type: 22-oz. bottle
Glass: Trappist Westvleteren XII glass
From: My friend Don
Price: N/A
Purchased: N/A; Received on Dec. 28, 2014
Consumed: May 5, 2015
Misc.: Wax on top and neck
Thanks Don!
Poured an amber, auburn color with two fingers of dark, khaki tan frothy head, which thinned out after a few moments. Minimal wet lacing on the sides of the glass. Below average retention. (Sight - 3.75)
Smelled plum, grape juice, figs, honey, blackberry, dark raspberry, a touch of blueberry and candied caramel. (Smell - 3.75)
Taste followed the nose, getting grape juice, figs, plum, blackberry, dark raspberry and candied sugar. Supposedly this is 11 percent ABV, but it tasted more like 6 percent. Scary. (Taste - 4.00)
Medium-to-light body. Sticky texture. Average carbonation. Long, smooth, slightly warming finish. (Feel - 4.25)
Really impressed with this one. I can’t get over how hidden the 11 percent ABV is. (Overall - 4.00)

Not bad, but nothing special. A little too sweet for me as a quad. Definitely paid too much for this one.

Decent quad. A tad too sweet for my taste, but still enjoyable.

Not nearly as delicious as last year's 3rd Anniversary stout, but still a pretty good brew.
