Santa Barbara was once a flourishing agricultural region for citrus of all types, so we brewed a beer to commemorate the past, bright and drinkable. We used real grapefruit, tangerine and blood orange to create a refreshing, citrusy blond ale that will quench your thirst in any season.

Served on tap at the Blast & Brew in Paso Robles, California.
A: Pours a slightly hazy, golden color with a two to three finger, white head, rim plus retention, but more limited lacing.
S: Aromas very hard to pick up.
T: More semidry than semisweet with palate maybe a little lemony. Lots of barley aftertaste. Overdone bitterness.
M: Light to medium bodied with robust carbonation only at first. Rather astringent.
O: Two words: not impressed.

Misc.: Canned on May 6, 2020
Picked this up at a Trader Joe’s in Santa Barbara. Description on the box read, “Santa Barbara was once a flourishing agricultural region for citrus of all types, so we brewed a beer to commemorate the past, bright and drinkable. We used real grapefruit, tangerine and blood orange to create a refreshing, citrusy blond ale that will quench your thirst in any season.” Figueroa Mountain is hit and miss for me, so was hoping this one would be a hit.
Poured a medium yellow mostly clear color with one finger of off-white fizzy head, which dissipated quickly. Could see four of five bubble streams coming up from the bottom of the glass. Very bad watery lacing. Minimal retention. (Sight - 2.25)
Smelled blood orange, tangerine, grapefruit, floral, apricot, peach and orange fluoride. A little sweeter out of the can, but generally followed the glass. (Smell - 4.00)
Taste followed the nose, maybe not quite as good. In order got blood orange, tangerine, orange blossom, grapefruit, apricot, peach and floral. (Taste - 3.75)
Light body. Thin texture. Lively carbonation. Long, citrusy finish. (Feel - 4.00)
This was a very good blonde ale overall. Something I would have again for sure. (Overall - 3.75)
