Dark Blue Corn Mexican-style Lager

The combination of toasted blue corn and complex medium characters malts creates a smooth and highly drinkable Dark Mexican-Style Lager. Up front notes of toasted caramel, pecans, and crackers are balanced by an effervescent light bodied finish.

Another outstanding beer from a brewery that consistently produces excellent beers to style. Always loved Negra Modelo and this is all that and more. No lime needed. Perfect to style with a subtle blue corn masa note. Perfect low ABV lager.

Thanks hophound.
Pours a deep brown with an amber edge. Sandy head forms nicely, sticks around, and leaves some moderate lacing.
Nose is slightly toasty brown bread, caramel malt, and a hint of bitterness.
Flavor moves around a little more than the nose. Yes, she starts off with a nice, almost meaty, presentation of the toasty brown bread notes. But then as I move through the gentle sweetness I get a hint of what I am perceiving as a lightly toasty, earthy corn note. May be all in my head, but it reminds me of the simple joy of piki bread (having enjoyed this decades ago on the Hopi reservation). Regardless, I find this added dimension quite enjoyable and unique. This one goes beyond the usual balance of sweet, mild toastiness, and closing bitterness.

Dark and dirty gold pour, appears dark copper and clear in the glass; dense, lively carbonation; thick head, rich and frothy, bone-white color, semi-creamy on the top; fat, sticky blobs and webs of foam decorate the glass. Light caramel and toasted grain nose; corn; touch of sweetness. Initial light malt taste that grows with a rich sweetness and caramel edge; toasted wheat crackers; light brown sugar; mild bitterness. Medium body; lightly sticky and velvety; partially dry overall.

This delightful, easy drinking dark Mexican lager brings some lip-smacking richness to the senses. Excellent complexity that develops slowly with each subsequent sip. Well-rounded and tasty.

16oz can served in a hotel glass. Can is dated 01/18/24. Bought it at the brewery yesterday.

Pours a dark amber or light brown, clear, medium sized head that settles into a thinnish, fairly even layer. Smell is richly malty, dark sweet bread, nuts, toffee.

Taste is similar, though with more of a toasty bite to it. Strikes a nice balance between sweetness and toast / bitter.

Mouthfeel is light, clean, dry. Overall, this is quite nice.
