500ml flip-top bottle on a train from Berlin. Clear Gold nice head. Aromas are sweet malt and some grain. Taste is simular but more intensive. Slight bitterness in the end. Not Bad at all.

My first from this 3rd generation brewer mid-way between Munich and Nuremberg. They probably have close to the classic Bavarian story, except that they have been brewing organic beers for 30 years (if you can trust my German since Riedenburger's website needs an English button... but otherwise seems thoughtful, again if you can trust my German.)
Their Festbier is quite good and were I to find it again, I'd have it again. It's got gently pretty Looks (but I also give points for the pop-top bottle and traditional label.) Smells are mostly malt. Tastes are balanced, only in the finish do the hops take over so there is no sweet finish. Medium-mouthed, but very soft. Very quaffable. Does its job. Prost !

A Weihnachts-Festbier this is, they say - a Christmas beer (you couldn’t miss it, has Santa on the label.) Bought just for tonight, Christmas Eve 2022 in Vienna, AT.
Apart from the Celebration series from Sierra I think I never had a Christmas beer so this is something new. A kind of lager they say? but very intense. Roasted barley I think is what I get in the aroma, and the taste reminds me of chestnuts! You know those malt-intense beers, now this one is not like that. It takes the maltiness to a different level. I read somewhere that it has a lot of Hallertauer hops in there as well, that would explain the slight bitterness that overlays (and the tartness, which I wasn’t sure of that it comes from the hops but seemingly it is a trademark of the big Hs.)
What else you could want after an Oktoberfest for a Bavarian Christmas than a Bavarian Weihnochds-Festbia! Prost und Frohe Weihnachten!
