Bottled in 2017. Relatively good looking beer. Nice and clear with a good red hue. Very small fizzy head. Aroma is very, very strong with strong red wine vibes & plenty of acidity. Taste has some nice musty, barrel funk. Plenty of acidity, but less than I expected based on the nose. The grapes are still noticeable, particularly on the finish. Light bodied. Overall, I'm pleasantly surprised. Based on its age and the fact that I find a lot of Almanac beers from this timeframe lack balance, this is actually pretty good.

375 ml bottle into a tulip glass. Bottled 10/26/17, had 9/25/18.
Pours a pinkish amber color, mostly cloudy, with a half inch foamy head and a little soapy cling. Aromas of wine, raspberries, grapes, some vanilla, some malt, a little chocolate. Smells somewhat tart and sour, with a good amount of funk. The taste is less tart and sour. Flavors of grapes, wine, raspberries, vanilla, some chocolate- stronger on the finish, light oak. Smooth, a solid medium body, well carbonated.
Well balanced aromas and flavors, a great blend overall. The wine barrels, grapes and raspberries all share top billing. Better as it warms. I’m an Almanac fan, and found this to be another really solid effort.

Has an interesting flavor depth for a sour. Doesn't rely heavily on sour raspberry and grapes, or the wine barrel as much as one would expect, allowing the vanilla, cocoa and tannins to come to the surface. Gives the body a little more thickness, and cut the acidity big time. Pours a murky brown with quickly disappearing white foam.

A: Poured into a tulip to a deer red topped by a small off white head which quickly fades into the ether with no lacing
S: Smells of bright sour raspberries, oak, vanilla, and a hint of chocolate
T: Taste is huge wine barrel notes with some sourness, raspberries, some drying cocoa notes. Wine barrels are very forward on this one with a good smack of tannins as well. Swallow is a lot more red wine, sourness, raspberries, and drying cocoa. Malty sourdough note on the very back end as well.
M: The beer has a moderate amount of body with a slightly slick mouthfeel. Carbonation is a little low but somewhat adequate for the style while the beer has a drying finish
O: This one seems to be doing just a little too much. It may have also spent a little too much time in the wine barrels as those flavors are quite prominent. Not bad but not quite what I was looking for.

Bright pink on the pour. Settles into a deep ruby hue in the glass with pink highlights. Brief-lived fizzy head. Transparent in the glass. 3.5
Oak, vinegar, and funk on the nose. A bit of fruit and berries. Musty. 4.0
On the palate, it's musty, funky, and sour up front, with a touch of oak; white wine notes start to come through, along with slightly sweet grapes; finishes with berries, plum skins, and cherry pits. 4.0
Feel is completely unexpected: light, breezy, silky, smooth, yet still lively. Sour but not completely puckering. 3.5
