First brewers at Maui Brewing Company and now at Denver's Crooked Stave facility, the collaborative wild saison boasts the additions of lime and hibiscus for a uniquely island flare and with the help of Motueka, Huell Melon, and Mandarina hops for added measure and irresistibility.

Cleverly called Two Tickets To Paradise, the beer pours a bright neon pink with a mild haze that casts a soft glow on the glass. Its loose but white blanket of foam skirts the rim while tangy aromas of citrus, wine, cider, cork and a flowery bouquet casts a funky fresh scent early on. Mild sweetness is soft and herbal with a sweet tea impression that bridges slightly into a candied, taffy and soft croissant character.

Its carbonation quickly breaks up the sweetness and highlights the beer's spice, sourness and spiciness. In true saison fashion, the fruits rise with the taste of lime leading the way. But trailing into green apple, lemon, crabapple, gooseberry and cranberry, the beer turns tart, crisp and succinct. The soft herb of hibiscus provides a soothing rose wine taste while natural spices of white pepper, vinous acidity and orange peel become part of the yeast and hop culmination.

Fresh and funky late, a return of weathered woods and wine must extend on the finish with a quick aftertaste of dry rose wine and a mild spicy bitterness from hops. Medium light and mildly oaken, the beer's texture is drying and smooth from head to tail.

Pours like an effervescent Chablis with pinky of beige head. Zero head retention & lacing

S: Pears, a little berry scent, plenty of oakyness once warm

T: Pears, berries, a little hibiscus tea with oaky dryness up front. Oaky dryness, white grapes & pears as this warms, plus the lime showing as well. Finishes with a little lime peel, berry sweet tart & barrel dryness

MF: Medium body, slight carbonation

Drinks easy enough, but just not that memorable

Copper colored and hazy with a fingernail of off white on top. I'm smelling hibiscus flowers and oak. I'm tasting hibiscus flowers, lime, and earthy saision yeast. The mouth is smooth and easy going.

Bottle. Poured out a reddish color with a small, pink head of foam. It smelled of flowers, lemon and a hint of lime. Tart and somewhat funky with a fruitiness and still a hint of lime.

Pours a clear copper color. 1/3 inch head of a white color. Great retention and slight lacing. Smells of salt, sage, floral hops, slight citrus hops, and a hint of bacterial funk. Fits the style of a Belgian Saison. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of salt, sage, floral hops, slight citrus hops, hibiscus, and a hint of bacterial funk. Overall, light finish, good appearance and blend, but lacking in depth.

a saison type with hibiscus and lime, not nearly as wild and funky as i am used to from crooked stave,, but a cool beer and something a little different from them. a neat collaboration too with maui, i didnt see this one coming! pink in the glass from the hibiscus, predictably cloudy, but super lively with a tall white head on it, foamy and lasting. the smell is nice, not overly floral from the hibiscus and very fresh, still ahead of the lime to me, which has a freshness as well, zesty and natural and a little acidity that works with the base beer. definitely still a wild element to this, but its newer and less woody than a lot of the other crooked stave stuff, tart and refreshing without being overly complex and intense, i think that vibe favors the additives here too. the lime is really clean and tart, and the hibiscus seems to have just a little sweetness to it. the beer is simple though and well balanced with a hint of fruity white wine at the end. well carbonated and with some body too, i thought this was great, especially for the spring. the crooked stave collaboration game has been on point lately!

This beer has a wonderful aroma with soft floral hibiscus notes and a very vibrant, crisp mouthfeel with a balanced acidity from the lime, very refreshing, and super crushable. Hints of oak and Rose wine from the barrel aging, not funky or grassy but very tropical from the Pilsner Wheat, Flaked and Golden Naked Oats, as well as Motueka, Huell Melon, and Mandarina hops.
