ive still had way too few beers from this now celebrated operation, so it was good to get a few in this weekend. this maibock is solid, but its also quite sweet, a little more grainy, a little less lager obvious maybe, than some of the more drinkable examples of the style, but its a pleasing richness and a tasty pint, if somewhat limiting for me personally with all the residual sugar. light to mid amber color on this, nice clarity, and a high puffy white head that crowns it really properly, pretty beer even in a shaker pint, somewhat paler in color actually for how rich it drinks. the nose is awesome, sweet yes but lovely malt here, german and fresh, bready and baked and toasty and with some honey and light toffee character, deeply earthy too and well grounded, subtle old world lager yeast and minerality with it in play too, light on the hops side but a little grassy and floral lift to me, approaching nutty even overall, again a little more depth to the nose than it looks like it would have, lots of bock heartiness, no doubt, but also extremely well refined and kind of elegant for being sturdy too. the flavor is good, somewhat consistent with the nose but perhaps slightly less dynamic, and the sugar starts early so this is kind of on my teeth right away, which does detract from some of the grain nuance, although its real tasty anyway, feels bigger with the sweetness too, longer lasting than some of these, maybe less lager personality overall this way, but still well proportioned and so fresh. a little bit unique in a somewhat standard style space, but maybe not in the most flattering respect, if i am being critical, which really isnt fair in a beer this objectively good. i like the weight and the strength and the beautiful grain flavor, high quality ingredients on display here, and nice technique of course, but maybe actually the least impressive of the handful of theirs i got to have recently, next to the schwarzbier and the hefeweizen. still, excellent overall.

Deep gold/ borderline amber. Perfectly clear. Beautiful long stream of fine bubbles rising to meet the head. Perfectly white relatively dense head of long duration. Some lacing, but not sticky. Malty goodness in smell and flavor. A little caramel sweetness. Some dark bread. A hint of orange zest. mild to moderate carbonation. Silky smooth mouthfeel.

Poured from a 16 oz can.
Gorgeous. Orangey amber in hue. Sandy head fluff up confidently asserting 2+ inches before slowly laying down as a firm, almost milky, head. Great retention and some light layered lacing.
The nose pumps an inviting toasted caramel malt meets brown bread dough. A mild hop note teases with some herbal notes akin to pepper and a mildly ready delivery of citrus.
Flavors definitely chime in to style. The malt is sweet enough but not too much. Honey, brown bread, mild caramel malt notes. Grassy, mildly herbal, and a hint of orange rind provided by the hops tame the sugars gently.
Mouthfeel has a gentle carbonation and a crisp finish.

Picked up a single tall can from a 4-pack at the local TJs dated 03/17/25. Been looking forward to trying this from such a strong lager brewery. Doesn’t disappoint. Drinks similar to many of the best I had while living in Germany. Sweetness, malt profile, sneaky booze, it’s all nearly spot on. A pleasure to drink and really well crafted. Bravo!

Clear dark orangey amber brew with abundant foam in the Pilsner glass. Malty and slightly fruity aroma with pineapple in the nose. Frothy and sprightly on the tongue. Clean flavors, spicy, and tangy. Moderately sweet, as usual with many of this style, but flavorful and fruity. One of the better Maibocks that I've tasted. And another delight from Enegren. From the 16 oz can purchased at O'Shea Brewing. Dated 04/15/24.

Maibock from Enegren. 16 fl oz can from @2beerdogs in NBW BIF 17. Reviewed 02/05/23 (Review 3089). Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Bottom of can stamped “CANNED ON 03/0/2023”. Stored at 34 degrees at home. Served at 52.8 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature was 58.4 degrees F.
Appearance – 4.25
First pour – Straw (SRM 3), clear.
Body – Deep Gold (SRM 6), clear. Under direct light, same. When rear lite, same.
Head: Large (Maximum 5.5 cm, aggressive center pour), ivory, high density, average retention, reducing to an undulating 0.7 – 1.4 cm crown fed by carbonation and a rocky complete cap. A narrow band on Sanskrit lacing remains at the top of the glass as the head recedes – this dries out.
Lacing – Virtually none other than (above).
Aroma – 4.25 – Strong toasted caramel malt and bread. No hops, no yeast. No ethanol (7.2 % ABV as marked on the label) aroma.
Flavor – 3.25 – Follows nose – too sweet caramel malt and bread - no yeast. Hops make a ghostly appearance at the end. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. Slight gastric warming.
Palate – 4 – Medium; approaching syrupy; lively but soft carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 3.75 Looks and smells good, but entirely too sweet. Hops make a weak protest at the end, but not enough to balance the cloying sweetness.

Eric, you are too generous. Canned 2 weeks back.
A clear amber with a dense, off-white head with excellent retention and lacing. The nose is a great representation of the style, with sweeter, bready notes up front with a soft, lemony hop character. Light toasted caramel and almost light snickerdoodle like spice notes from the balance of malt, hop, and alcohol. The palate opens mildly sweet with honey, toasted bread, light caramel and a firm hop bitterness, earthy and lemon pith like, assertive enough to balance the malt and hold up against the warming alcohol. The finish is long, mildly bitter and bready. Medium light in body and softly carbonated. Excellent.

I must be the among the first to try this spring's offering. It was canned just 9 days ago on March 14, awesome!! Purchased in a four-pack of pint cans and poured one into a tall Erdinger pilsner glass. ABV this season is 7.2%
The pour is just beautiful, rich gold/copper with a creamy two finger head that stays around and the lacing is spectacular.
The nose is a bit of grass, sweet malt - very subtle.
Taste is malty at the front but a slight hop bitterness on finish that is nicely balanced
Feel is smooth and ultra drinkable.
I'm pretty sure I'll head back to the store in a couple of days to get more of this while it's fresh, as this is a very satisfying brew. Well done Enegren!!

Poured at fridge temp. Pours a relatively transparent orange with slightly off-white head. Nose is candy, orange, a bit of spice, wheat, and a bit of caramel. The taste is really nice and smooth. Again, a bit of caramel, a thin layer of hops, a floral note, candy, a touch of maple, lemon, and some nice malts. Very crisp and easy drinking. Mostly on a sweet side.

Well, if Raul may be frank, this is like a Malt Liquor Lager. Yeah, it poured all rusty looking and I could see EaZy E and Dr. Dre sipping on this thing while mixing their latest album. It’s ok, but like my relationship with that girl at semester at sea in the Mediterranean, it’s not that memorable.
