listed here on the bike café blackboard as 5.7% abv, but nevermind that. this is a decent glass of beer, creamy English style pale ale flavored brew. the appearance is a mostly clear caramel colored liquid with a creamy oatmeal colored head an inch tall. great lacing left behind. the nose is pretty bland really, it opens a little with temperature, but remains pretty tight. its some English malt, not too sweet, and a mild goldings type hop. nothing special. the flavor is malt forward yet well balanced, minerally, and bittersweet in the finish, which is long and a little starchy, just how I like my ESBs. the mouthfeel is the best feature of this beer, soft and full bodied, still with quite active carbonation. it almost has a cask feel to it, but colder, and would be outstanding in that format im sure. overall I like the bitter contrast the the usual malt sweetness in this genre. higher gravity too is fine with me. a good American adaptation of the classic style. bitter vanilla when it warms. is that a paradox?

On cask at Copper Kettle. Ruby red color, short creamy head, kind of hazy but hard to tell in the lighting. Smells fruity and malty. Taste was a nice caramel with a hint of fruit but not too bitter at all. Very nice for the style and the creamy mouthfeel is what probably sealed the deal for me. Would order this again easily.
