2013 vintage; drank 6/24/14 @ the Palace.
Poured from the bottle into a glass.
Plum rust murkiness.
Minimal cream head; minimal lace.
Mild plum & booze heat in the nose, with hints of mild chile pepper.
Medium thick mouthfeel.
Booze & plum notes up front; caramel oak goodness emerges as it warms.
A really good beer seems to be lurking here, but more time is needed...

On tap at the brewpub served in a 5oz stange. Clear, dark amber with minimal white head and no lacing. Aroma is malty and full of caramel. There’s also some citrus hop. Taste is moderately sweet with honey and caramel followed by bitter citrus peel and herbal hop notes. A solid punch of heat. Full body, viscous texture. nearly flat carbonation, and a longer bitter, hot finish.

I did thoroughly enjoy this beer, but rated it a little lower because it didn't fit what I though of as a barleywine. I ready the description, and given the quoted 96 IBU, this might fall more into the American than English style.
To me, it hit more like an (imperial) IPA, the dark fruits not quite as strong as I expect. There ws also fairly high carbonation to add to the feel that I don't associate with others in the style.
The beer is the light amber-to-brown with carbonation sustaining a thin head. The smell has mild hints of toffee. The taste, as stated, seems more like a sweeter imperial IPA than a darker-fruitier barleywine, although these tastes come out more as I taste the beer.
I might have to revisit this beer if I can, to see if I was off in my perceived style-biased rating.

Poured an almost opaque medium brown with a creamy white head. The head has some moderate retention, mostly on the collar. But it leaves nice lacing throughout the beer. The aroma is richly malt, with some dark fruit tones, a little sweetness and just a hint of hops. The taste follows right along and doesn't disappoint. There is satisfying weight and smoothness to the beer on the palate and nice hops crispness on the finish. A really good barleywine.
