On tap at 508. Pours a nearly clear, burnished golden color, with a small, cream-colored head that has great retention. Nice lacing clings to the glass. Aroma of citrus, spice, pepper, big Belgian yeastiness and attendant phenolic notes.
Flavor follows the nose closely; lots of spice, lemon and orange citrus, pepper, all that lovely yeastiness; gentle bready malt sweetness underneath, finishing quite dryly. Very refreshing.
Medium bodied; briskly carbonated; nice feel if just a touch prickly, but that’s nitpicking a bit. Highly drinkable. Can’t say for sure because it seems odd but I detected a vague saltiness in this one (and in their Session IPA) that was somewhat surprising. It’s gentle and restrained enough not to negatively effect the beer much at all, but it did throw me for a loop somewhat. Is it the water they’re using? Very unusual, but again, not enough to ruin this fine saison.
