Collaboration with Civil Life Brewing Company.
We wanted to kick off our 10th anniversary collaboration with a place near and dear to all of our hearts at Perennial. Civil Life embodies everything your local pub aspires to be. Friendly faces, a comfortable environment for discussions, a strong relationship to its neighborhood and neighbors, and the beer there is some of the best in the world. This beer we virtually collaborated on is a pretty classic ESB. Restrained but lingering bitterness is accompanied by waves of bready malt and classic noble hops. This beer reminds us of playing Trivial Pursuit in an upstairs nook, the first time Tony made pulled pork nachos, and Patrick doing Saturday NYT crossword puzzles in ink.

L: Pours a golden orange color with a foamy white head and lots of lacing on the glass.
S: Sweet caramel, hints of toffee, and earthy nutty malt with a slight hop.
T: Caramel, and nutty, a hint of toffee, some toasted bread and a lighter noble hop. A very enjoyable esb.
F: Smooth carbonation, medium body.
O: A nice example of the ESB style

16oz can pours a golden yellow color inclining heavily to orange with a small but dense off-white colored head that fades down to a thick ring and thin layer while leaving plenty of lacing. Smells very lightly of honey, caramel, and bread. Hearty bready malt flavor with lots of honey, toffee, and caramel. Moderate but restrained herbal bitterness, mild sweetness, medium body, smooth carbonation mouthfeel, and a honey-herbal-bitter aftertaste.
This was a damn good beer. Perfect flavor balance and somehow feels satisfying and substantial yet still sessionable. Would certainly buy again.

"""Best by 6/3/24""; drank 2/27/24 @ the Yarchives.
See-through orange appearance.
A rough pour yielded a HUGE khaki head; strong tree-rung lacing remained.
Bread & faint lemon notes in the nose.
Medium mouthfeel.
Fresh bread & faint lemon flavors.
Simple, solid, well-made ESB. I'd have another..."

Very murky orangey light brown pour with a tan head. Malts lead the nose with orange zest, faint brown bread and earth.
Taste features earthy and grassy hops atop toasted malt, faint caramel, a whisper of mineral water, before decent brown bread yeast and zesty citrus round out. Feel is medium bodied, malt forward, soft and smooth. Wish I could have this one cask, but from the can I have to say I am impressed

On draft at Four Moon Tavern, 12 oz. served in a footed goblet. Golden amber tone with bright clarity and a slight reddish tint in the light. Aroma is malt and yeast forward, nutty with a hint of dried apricot esters. Taste is much the same, smooth and malty, nutty with a mild back end bitterness in the dry finish. Light to medium bodied, carb is smooth and carries it along well. Great with food. A prototypical example of the style, classic in every way. Perennial beer #45
