The smooth notes of natural chocolate in King Porter Stomp are in perfect syncopation with the five different malts that provide the bass line of this robust beast. Medium-bodied with a creamy chocolate aroma, King Porter Stomp is smooth jazz in a can.

Pours opaque and black with a tall, beige head. Quite a bit of lacing as I drink the beer. No visible carbonation.
The nose is woody and nutty. A little earthy with some black tea.
The flavor is dry, toasty, hazelnutty, dark chocolatey, and reminiscent of bitter coffee with a drop of cream. No sugar. A delightful offering from Cape May Brewing.

Canned on 11/5/2019. Poured into a pint glass. It pours a very dark cola color with a half finger of creamy, light khaki-colored head and a thin film of lacing. It smells of dark chocolate and earthy, nutty char. The taste opens relatively sweet with milk chocolate and a hint of caramel but quickly becomes bitter with burnt nuts and char. It's a good balance of sweet and bitter. For a Porter it has a particularly rich and creamy mouth feel with moderate carbonation and its 7.4% ABV gives it good substance. Overall, what sets this Porter apart is its opening sweetness. It bridges the gap between a Porter and a Milk Stout. It's a nice offering that would pair well with a burger or cheese steak but it's lite enough for casual drinking.

Welcome back to Happy New "CAN We Visit the Cape & Drink Some Beer, Aunt May?!?" Sunday (Week 751)! The CANQuest (tm) will be in high gear today as a result. Hang tight!
From the CAN: "Chocolate Porter"; "Porter Brewed with Smooth Chocolate Flavors and Assertive Malts': "Satisfying and Complex"; "Just Like Your Favorite Jazz Tune"; "New Jersey Proud"; "Best Paired With [salt water taffy; roasted peanuts; pork]"; "Care for the Cape"; "Profile: The smooth notes of natural chocolate in King Porter Stomp are in perfect syncopation with the five different malts that provide the bass line of this robust beast. Medium-bodied with a creamy chocolate aroma, King Porter Stomp is smooth jazz in a can."; "Crafted on the Cape"; "Unfiltered".
I did some in-CAN agitation before Crack!ing open the vent since it was clearly marked as "Unfiltered" & I wanted anything that may have flocculated back in suspension. Following the Crack!, I went with an inverted C-Line Glug to CANtinue to ensure that things were in suspension. This time, I saw a pseudo-cascade that actually caused an inrush & holding of my breath as I was suddenly in fear of an overflow. Phew! It suddenly exhaled & formed two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, deep-brown head with very nice retention, slowly settling into wisps with great lacing in its wake. Color was simply Black/Opaque (SRM = 44), allowing ZERO light penetration. Nose had a raw chocolatiness along with notes of treacle, dried dark fruits and light smoke. 8=O It was almost medicinal in the way of my maternal grandparents' Geritol, which I once tasted as a child. 8=p Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was REALLY roasty, less chocolaty than the CAN's label suggested. It was "Very Good", but it could have been a "Baltic Porter" or even a "Robust Porter". Either way, it had an intense roastiness that got my impotent d**k outta the dirt & stand up & take notice! This was not some playin'-around Porter, but the kind that makes taking up licking live wires for a living seem like a good thing. Synebrychofff comes to mind in drinking this. Merely 7.4%? Pshaw! It drank a LOT bigger. Finish was dry and roasty & was WAY better than I had CANticipated. YMMV.

Too thin and boozy for me, stick with the Always Ready from Cape Msy, that one is top notch.

The reddish tinged black beer pours out into a Duvel glass with a 1/2” finely bubbled and creamy light tan head that recedes slowly but visibly to eventually become a ring and thin island of foam while leaving a web of multiple lines, patches and legs of lacing on the sides of the glass. Sipping creates two arches and some scattered patches of lacing.
The aromas have lots of chocolate and cocoa along with some light roasted character from the dark malts. In the background there’s a hint of anise and a bit of coffee.
The flavors include some dark chocolate sweetness, some dark roasted malt, a bit of coffee, some light caramel and some light earthy and dark roast bitterness way in the background.
The mouth feel is medium bodied and lightly crisp with the very light carbonation. The finish begins as the chocolate, the sweetness and the other flavors begin to fade away into a clean, crisp semi-dry slightly bitter ending that invites another sip.
Overall, a well made, enjoyable and drinkable porter. The whole combination of aromas/flavors works well for me and I’ll be looking to have it again.

I'm going higher than BAs with Stomp because of it fruity, prune like chocolate core, and its quality feel and finish.
a) Brown black with mahogany lights, 1 finger creamy tan head. bits of lace.
s) Prune, plum, australian licorice, raisin, dark chocolate, grass, hop; malted milk, malt chocolate balls.
t) More of all.
f) yes it's sweet but balanced, natural weight, crisp, and off-dry.
o) Winner. Try 24.
