Remember that first sip of sweet, carbonated goodness, complete with cherries on top? Inspired by the “drink of the summer,” our Dirty Shirley Shandy blends a dash of pomegranate juice and a hint of cherry with a refreshing wheat ale. Dirty Shirley Shandy is a charming combination that will bring you back to simpler times spent enjoying everything that makes life sweet.

For review, two twelve ounce cans were emptied entirely into a clear glass liter mug. The aroma produced is fruity and somewhat salty. What was not produced was any appreciable head, even at room temperature. The liquid is copper-amber in color, with a reddish tint, bright, but mildly hazy. Even for those that don't like wheat beers, there's enough outside flavoring to overcome that. The fruit taste combination, sort of cherry-lemon by reference, so dominates that the beer medium doesn't seem to matter. One thing for certain, it doesn't taste much like a beer. The additional flavors are overpowering. For those that don't care for a wheat based beer, that's not a bad thing. It has no head, no glass lacing and no true beer character, drinking more like a good hard seltzer. But, because it's a beer, albeit a wheat beer, it is decided better than those.
