Rich glowing apricot color with soapy head that dissipates quickly. Estery honey nose with some burn. Flavor is round and full of honey, bread, ginger, anise, and pepper. Mouthfeel is exceptional and complex; thick, tingly, numbing, and effervescent. Deeper and richer than most farmhouse ales.

Bottle. Hazy golden orange with lasting head and a little lace. Peppery floral honey vanilla with a touch of mint. Sweet honey vanilla and peachy, a little extra peachy and fruity from the honey, I think. Light peppery melon finish. Medium light body very soft and nicely carbo'd without bite. Excellent.

Poured into a tulip, the appearance was a semi-dark bronzed copper chill hazed color. Just a thin sheet of white wispy foamy head glided off to leave some messy lace.
The aroma had some sweet yeasty toasted hay to grassy and leafy whiffs. The honey is starting to come in waves with some warmth. Soft Belgian breadiness with some crushed peppercorn lightly douses the background. An even softer blessing of freshly cleaned laundry opens up with more warmth.
The flavor leaned into a blend of sweet grassy to hay-like clean hop dusted dry sweet character chilling with some honey attributes. Mild aftertaste of hay, dusty Belgian yeast, grass and honey.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fair sipping quality about it. Mild carbonation and a nice enough smoothness. Finishes semi-crisp with some honey sweetness, no stickiness.
Overall, pretty nice saison or as the brewery says 'biere de miel.' I'd bang again.

11.2 oz. bottle.
Moderate pour yields a nearly two inch, pure white head over a light golden body with very nice lacing. Beautiful! Nose of light funk, honey, and a real nice floral/herbal thing going on as well. Taste mirrors nose closely with a very smooth experience from start to a slightly spicy blueberry finish. Very nice! Feel is more than adequate and overall, a beautiful Biere de Miel/Saison from Oxbow. Cheers!

Poured from a bottle with date (best by) 04/4/20 into the test glass
A - Slightly hazed goldenrod color, Gentle carbonation meanders toward the surface. Initial pour yielded a 1/2" loose froth of white. Thin ring of tight white clings to the glass interior during the remaining experience.
S - Grainy, some honey notes, hint of blueberry, some apple skin and orchard in bloom. French farmhouse yeast.
T - Warm sourdough spread with orange blossom honey. some lemon zest, apricot and more earthy grains, with a kiss of funk.
M - A bit slick, sweet start never relents, carbonation cannot clean things up. Linger is forever, with honey drop candy as the calling card.
O - A very good Biere de Miel, base is solid and can hold up to the sweetness, enough graininess to keep things rich. The bottle conditioning is all but perfect.

Bottled on 5/1/19

Pours a cloudy light gold capped with a sizeable, soft head of white foam; decent retention reduces to a slight cap of sinewy froth, semi-thick collar, and sporadic bits of lacing.

Aroma opens as hints of floral citrus make may for woody, slightly sweet clove and banana, with some bready baking spice showing over time along with touches of funk toward the end.

Taste shows a mild funky honey with some floral citrus undertones dominating the profile; develops in complexity the longer it lingers, with honey, earth, woody spice, and wet grass as it finishes.

Mouthfeel is soft bodied with subtle upper levels of carbonation; yeasty grit supports a tangy zest, but it thins a bit on the mostly drying finish as some funk just begins to hit the palate; minimal booziness, incredibly palatable 8%.

Mild, effervescent, and quietly flavorful saison/Bière de Miel; nuances don’t quite distinguish themselves powerfully enough to make this one all that memorable, but it’s a quenching, nice drink all the same.

Hazy straw pour - I can't see my fingers through the glass. I'm liking the light lacing. Light smells of banana bread, yeast, baking spices.

Taste - Subdued spice, bready with some caramel notes from the honey. On the less funky and tangy side of the New England farmhouse ales. Almost getting some dandelion or grassy notes. A little too much malt on the aftertaste. A bit too much carbonation.

Overall I think this is an outstanding and unique and nuanced farmhouse. It has a refined funk which made it really pleasing and drinkable.

Appearance: Pours clear and golden colored with an impressive head that leaves a coat of lacing

Smell: Bready with funk and honey tones

Taste: Bready flavors forward with funk and honey flavors building; tart in the middle, but the finish brings a layer of sweetness

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: Nicely balanced; Oxbow has a nice farmhouse program going

Real nice farmhouse ale with some wild blueberry honey character, tangy, dry, subtle sweetness, a little clove-like spice, unripe banana, malty grains
