From a can. Pours a hazy straw yellow with a ring of foam. Smells of horse blanket, honey, and herbs. The flavor is herbal, slightly belgiany, and moderately bitter and dry. Medium- light bodied and dry with an herbal finish.

12oz can. Poured out a clear, straw-yellow color with a small, white head of foam. It left sudsy trails of lace on the glass. It smelled of honey, floral notes, caramel and yeast. Sweet honey, caramel, yeastiness and toffee.

It pours a slightly hazy very pale gold with an inch of foam, from Beer Drop, canned July 28th 2023.
The smell is cloves, coriander, Belgian spices, somewhat earthy.
The taste is light spicing compared to the smell. Cloves, wheat, Belgian spices, light hints of tartness, sweetish honey throughout. Pretty good.
Rather light bodied, it does get thin in the finish.
Overall, a good rep of the style.

The beer is a gold color with a faint haze. A persistent white head with some nice lace.
Faint spice aroma.
Faint lemon taste, some oregano and rosemary.
Light-bodied and easy to drink.

Largely a saison to me, although UnTappd styles Field Beer as a "Farmhouse-- Other." And with 145 check-ins averaging 3.96, they think more of Field Beer than I do. (I'm usually .2 above the UnTappd average.)
That said, Field Beer is worth trying and I probably will enjoy the 4-pack I just bought at The Beer Temple. Field Beer has an active yeast producing a healthy foam that lasts and laces. Smells are mute; but for a table ale that is OK so the foods' aromas can play a role. Tastes are balanced, although not much stands out... again making it a table ale worth repeating. Cleansing in my mouth, Field Beer should be able to cut thru fried food. Tonight, Field sort of passed one of the tests I put saisons through: small roasted potatoes with a medley of BBQ sauces, sweet and sour. While I can't imagine Belgian peasants using BBQ sauces, my test makes sense as saisons are more frequently found on tables in Midwestern and southern North America. Field Beer cut through my mistake of roasting the potatoes with too much olive oil. At least, that is a sign of versatility. We shall see as the 4-pack progresses.
I have a complexed relationship with Oxbow; given that they like Brett and I do not. But this is my 10th ale from them and I will review and/or retaste several of those 10 during the course of this 4-pack and give Oxbow, perhaps, the higher Overall Hugs they probably deserve.
4/29/23 On Saison Day, had another copy of Field with a simple artichoke spread on cheese bread for lunch. Field passed another test, indicating versatility. In addition to editing the above more favorably, I'm increasing my Overall Hugs for Oxbow as they were among the dozen micro-celebrants of Saison Day... my favorite style.
