22oz bottle with white wax, served in a large snifter. I don't see a date on it.
Pours black with a smallish brownish head. Lots of carbonation. Smell is black licorice, burnt wood, hint of vanilla.
Taste is much roastier -- still strong anise presence, but not so dominant. More of a maple characteristic than the vanilla I smelled.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied. Overall, it's a solid beer, but not special on the spectrum of bourbon barrel aged imperial stouts.
