A thanks to the commander of the canquest, woodychandler, for this beer. I also appreciate the fact that he backed up his adding this beer with a review. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a yellow/whitish color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is very funky, a bit of lemon. Taste is lemons, yeast, some sake is present. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a pretty good beer.

L: Pours a nice clear gold color with a small creamy white head and lacing all around the glass.

S: Some lemon and light white wine grape, mixed with a bit of berry fruit. The aroma smells good but is a bit faint.

T: Lemony, light white wine grape, a little grassy, with a light bitterness, not much spiciness from the yeast. Finishes fairly dry.

F: Light body, slightly punchy carbonation.

O: Aroma is a little disappointing but rest is nice.

Poured into a shaker pint glass.

Look: Rocky, sea foam white head that stays thick for a while, leaving foamy lines of lacing. The body is dark straw yellow and hazy.

Aroma: Light grains, coriander, honey sweetness.

Taste: Bready, doughy malts lead into a musty, coriander body with a yeasty finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium to light.

Overall: Very good sake yeast and coriander flavors.

i have heard a bunch of beer nerds badmouthing this one for awhile now, finally let one rip at a restaurant with a really lackluster beer list this weekend, and i was shocked at how well refined it is and how much i liked it! it doesnt deserve to be the butt of jokes, not at all, its delicate and flavorful and supremely dry and well carbonated. its simple beer sure, but its great, especially with heavier or spicy food, a great contrast to that but more than just a palate cleanser. straw colored, really light looking, a frosted haze on it, short creamy white head too. the aroma is more of a french saison yest than a sake one, some mild white wine notes and a fresh green grape element too, white pepper and a faint belgian yeastiness too. i expected a little more flavor from the sake yeast, but i like how well it dries this out, its just gone on the swallow. maybe some rice in here, its got that almost flavorless light starchy texture, really pretty elegant beer, drinkable and unique enough, i could see it being amazing with a little funky brett in it, but i like it as it is now. not sure where all the negative talk comes from, why people like to joke around about this, its easily the best beer i have had from denver beer in a long time. ill drink more of this over the summer for sure!

Poured from a 12oz can with a canned on date of 2/26/18; into a pub glass.
Appearance- a light champagne gold with lots of bubbles; thin white head leaves decent lacing.
Smell- lemon, sweet grass and champagne!
Taste - very similar to the nose, however there is some clear sake flavor here that definitely cuts down the sweetness that is present in the nose!
Feel - light, very carbonated, finishes slightly dry.
Overall- creative and tasty beer that is just low enough on the ABV to be a nice warm weather session.

There has recently been a LOT of flak on this site revolving around adding beers without reviewing/rating them & I am proud to stand behind my Add. I get the approved pic cred, the Notes cred & now, the first review cred. I got cred, yo! I do not always move this quickly, but it has been a snowy snowing snow day & I am on a CANQuest (tm) roll. I live for these kind of CANportunities! Take Japance Off & I'll show you what it's like inna CAN!

From the CAN: "Dance Off With Japance Off * Denver * Colorado * USA"; "Brewed with Sake yeast and French hops"; "CO Brewed & Canned"; "Pack It Out".

Man, my ex-Old Lady lives between Denver and Boulder in CANorado & I still think of her fondle-ly! She was the one who demanded that I get offa the Crack! & inverted Glug kick since a) it had the potential to make a mess in her kitchen (fair dinkum) & b) it disrespected the beer, its brewer & readers of my reviews (also fair dinkum). I simply Crack!ed open the vent & began a slow, gentle Glug until I remembered that " Clarity: Slight Haze" are acceptable & I ramped up my Glug acCANordingly. Between this and an in-glass swirl, I ended up with just over a finger of foamy, rocky, bone-white head with decent retention. Color was a very lightly-hazy Pale-Yellow (SRM = > 2, < 4) with just the slightest haziness. Nose had a light dusty, musty, funky lemony quality. I have Girl Scout cookies with the same lemoniness . It is proofof my willpower that I do not try dunking them. Mouthfeel was thin-to-medium, nothing worthwhile. The taste, while funky, was also kind of muted. On the other hand, or CANversely, the Sake yeast was giving it the rice-like flavor that makes me think of many late nights in the Orient. Drunken, opium-laden sailors (NOT me, oh, no, NOT me!) were poured warm Sake into their mouths to revive them & send them on their way. Again, NOT me as I was a church-going atheist ... Err. Well, I heard stories ... Lissen, fermented rice, on its own, is brilliant! Using it as an extender with corn is Scheiße. This was NOT Scheiße, drinking semi-dry throughout and less funky than so many of its ilk. Finish was dry, but on the edge of semi-dry. Dang, but this was a nice beer! It was not too funky, it evinced rice/Sake & it melded all of its ingredients well. Beautiful!
