A Night to End All Dawns is a massive imperial stout that spent a year in bourbon barrels. The extended aging allowed seasonal temperature fluctuations in the barrels to draw bold flavors from the oak that can only develop with time. The heat of the bourbon gave way to subtle caramel sweetness, and the bold, sharp edges of the roasted malt mellowed and married with notes of the vanilla and oak.

2025 vintage.
Pours thick and dark, completely impervious to light. Zero head, even with an aggressive pour and swirling the glass. That’s ok. A swirl reveals fantastic lacing, leaving the sides of the glass dark for a while. Massive aroma, a lot going on here. First up is the chocolate. Lots of chocolate. I get some sweet vanilla and bourbon barrel after the initial chocolate onslaught. Then some nuttiness, like frangelica. Coconut is very faint. First sip - wow. Even more complex than the aroma. Having a hard time getting past how thick this beer is. Totally coats my tongue. Chocolate up front and center, like bourbon barrel aged chocolate. So rich and decadent. Sweet vanilla follows, and I get a touch of pecan and shredded coconut
on the finish. This is one of the most flavorful beers I have ever drank. Reminds me of sipping on a good bourbon neat. Take very small sips - the flavor lingers. Great finish.
Overall, I really enjoy this beer. Might go pick up a few more…

2025 release. Poured into a tumbler glass at 60.4°. It pours an inky, oily black. The frothy, medium-mocha-colored head dissipated almost immediately leaving some adjunct detritus floating on the surface. It has a great nose featuring chocolate, vanilla bean, coconut, leather, and a strong whiff of bourbon. Its taste is absolutely decadent with sweet chocolate cake batter and vanilla, along with shaved coconut. As it warms I also note the presence of pecans. The barrel effect is distinct but not distracting. There are also hints of cigar and earthy char. The flavors blend seamlessly. This Stout has a thick, velvety mouth feel with low carbonation. This year's batch carries a 12.2% ABV but it isn't overtly boozy. It is ideal for slow sipping for dessert or paired with some sharp cheese to balance savory against the sweetness. German Chocolate Cake may be my favorite ANTEAD variant.
