Mexican Dessert was inspired by a delicious dessert called a Spiced Mexican Chocolate Coconut Pie. It starts off with our imperial milk porter base before being conditioned on graham cracker, coconut, maple, cinnamon, cacao and ancho chilies.

Kane Brewing has found their wheelhouse. This imperial porter base style piled on with unique and meticulously sculpted blend of ingredients for beers of luscious, decadent and lavish seduction.
Mexican Dessert does not different, pouring with a very dark brown, visually viscous, velvety character. A patiently releasing foam comes with a sultry scent of chocolate, coffee, caramel and cream all laced with mexican spice, cake and savory scents. Following through on flavor, the early palate is sweet with toffee, caramel, maple and shortbread with a quick followup of more robust coffee, toasty, nutty flavors for balance and complexity. Relying on cinnamon, chili and cocoa spice, the finish is rounded, soothing and smoothly warming.
Full bodied, creamy and just off of cloying, Kane know the right chords to strike when developing dessert beer and flirting with the pastry level of intensity.

Drank from a 1 pint .9 fl. oz. / 500 ml bottle purchased at Kane Brewing Company, Ocean, NJ
Release Year 2021
Served in a tulip
The beer poured a somewhat thinner than expected dark brown/black hue and was topped by a frothy, finger-tall, light khaki crown that fell to a thick, lasting collar. Odd shaped streaks and dots of lacing trickled down the sides of the glass.
Cocoa notes came through big time in the aroma. Chocolate fudge or chocolate syrup as well. There was a potent coconut presence too. Cinnamon was also noticeable. I probably would not pick out the graham cracker without prior knowledge of the beer’s ingredients, but I could definitely see its influence. Bit of steely oxidation. As the beer warmed, the metallic notes disappeared. Also, the coconut intensified and competed for dominance with the cacao.
The flavor profile was terrific though not quite as impressive as the nose. Cocoa notes again came through really strong. Rich and fudgey. Coconut was also apparent. Good dose of vanilla too. The beer was anchored by a robust malt backbone. Nice melding of roasted and caramel malt notes. More roastiness on the back end and the finish. Metallic notes trailed after the swallow initially, but they dissipated with time.
Solid mouthfeel. Medium bodied for the style. The beer was creamy, fluffy and smooth on the palate. A finer bubbled, medium effervescence gave the liquid a nice slickness.
Mexican Dessert is a great beer but, as other reviewers have noted, the chili and the cinnamon notes were far too subtle in the both nose and the flavor profile. This is definitely more reminiscent of a s’mores style stout than a Mexican chocolate one.

2021 Version. Pours dark brown/black with a very thin tan head. Aroma is strong dark chocolate and vanilla, very nice on the nose. Taste is chocolate, cinnamon, maple and a touch of coconut. I'm not getting much burn from the peppers but there is a hint in there. Feel is solid, rich and coating. Overall it's more of an experience than a porter.

Pours dark and pretty thick, ample foamy head. Big chocolate and cinnamon aroma with a hint of coconut and loads of chocolate. Flavor is mostly chocolate, I do taste the ancho chilies, but the heat is not there. Cinnamon is delicate, chocolate is prominent, maple creates a nice sweetness, coconut is very faint. Good carbonation, feel is thick and creamy. Overall it’s delicious, but I was hoping for more coconut...

Dark brown borderline black pour with thin tan lacing. Nice subtle chocolate roast with subtle graham cracker and chile on the nose. Taste is perfectly blended with cinnamon, coconut, and cocoa from. start to finish.
Recommended.
