Couldn't believe that this was retired when I went to go review this on here as I only traded for this a few months ago. Took a while to get to since I went away at the end of the summer but this beer aged fine in the meantime. There wasn't anything wrong with this beer although it was not as outstanding as the Head High or A Night To End Al Dawns, although that's saying a lot given the high standards that those have set!

The pour to this was to this was typical as the liquid was cloudy, golden, and muted in hue. A good amount of head topped it off as the lacing left behind was in the form of a well-defined ring a third of the way down my pint glass with enough scattered splotches the rest of the way down. Dewy and grassy notes, gooseberry, blueberry, and some turbid tropical noted fill the subdued nose as the taste followed suit. Plenty of hops here to compete with one another as the end result was a beer that felt like earthy, rustic, and reminiscent of a fruit patch. The Nectaron and Waimea stood out as the exotic, Hawaiian Punch-like undertone and hints of stone fruit stood out in the end as this was softly slick, had a decent body, and needed just a bit more carbonation to keep this lighter on the palate.

Thankfully, the alcohol was barely noticeable as the heavy-handed nature blocked out most traces of the booze. The berries weren't fresh and the tropical fruits were more pithy than anything else. Dated 7/20 on the bottom of the can, sediment not to be seen here as this held up nicely since it's canning date. Too vegetal and weighted for me to rate higher but as a beer to kick back with, this was fine for one go-around.

can to snifter

LOOK: hazy yellowish orange color. creamy, foamy beige head. excellent retention.
AROMA: veggie, grass, melon. light strength of aroma.
TASTE: grass, melon, ginger. not the most refreshing combo of flavors, but fairly tasty.
FEEL: medium body, ok carbonation. abv masked well, seems milder than 7.8.
