Served at the brewery in a tulip.
Mysterioso #18 pours a deep mahogany, with a careful pour yielding minimal cream colored head. The nose features plum and toffee aromas heavily, with a small bit of light chocolate rounding things out. Some of the malt and sweetness complexity is lost on the transition to the flavor. There's still plenty of dark fruits, but the toffee, and especially the chocolate, are largely lost. A solid clove-led herbal and spicy close is present. The body is well attenuated, and the carbonation has some kick to it, but the mouthfeel is just short of fantastic, for reasons I can't quite put my finger on. I don't know if this is the same BSDA that Kane put in Malus, but if so I think I like this base beer better.
