Carton and Barrier brewed this bright, clean liquid gold to take this brutal summer across the finish line and kick off the glorious start of locals' summer. One golden malt, one golden hop, and the lager yeast of the Golden State fermented fast and warm to give pineapple aromatics to the star fruit, papaya, peach and citrus of heaps of 007: The Golden Hop throughout the brew.

This was a nice change of pace from the IIPA that i like to drink. There was some bitterness that i liked and biscuit flavor. There was also a ocean like salinty that i got when swishing the lager. Hope to see this again next August.

The beer is 45 degrees and served in a tulip glass. I opened the can and a hiss emitted with a light mist. The beer smells like juicy citrus fruit. The pour on the beer produced a one finger bright white head with good retention. The head left lacing on the glass as it dissipated slowly. The head diminished to a ring around the glass. The color of the beer is SRM 4 a pale gold color with a touch of amber hues. The clarity of the beer is clear with effervescent. Overall the beer has a pleasing appearance.
The initial aroma of the beer is grapefruit, oranges and herbal notes. Next, I smell toasted malts, biscuit, dank, funky floral, and a touch of resin.
The initial flavors in the beer are dank grapefruit, oranges, lemons, and herbal. Next, I get toasted malt, funky floral, biscuit, and resin. This interesting funky flavor that develops as the beer gets warmer.
The mouthfeel of the beer is astringent and fizzy.
The body of the beer is medium, medium-high carbonation, and a medium finish.
The beer is an IPA with refined flavors with seriously funky aromas. The beer staled a little and did affect the flavors. I will not judge the beer for that issue. The brewery has a never-ending battle to keep beer as fresh. After reading what the beer was I never picked up on tropical fruits. Honestly, this beer is not for me. I thought the beer was akin to a funky IPA not a lager.

This is astounding, IMHO. Bright yellow, very hazy, white head. Gorgeous. Nose is fruity hops and a funky note that is lager yeast aled (fermented warm). Zoinks!!!
The taste is the sum of all the parts squared. Pineapple, papaya, a flavor party. I wish I had a keg of this.

Looks golden straw color with a nice creamy head, lacing. Smells earthy, floral, fresh baked dough. Tastes different from most lagers I have had. Somewhat fruity, (almost IPA like) taste with cracker taste to follow. Feels dry and crisp, very refreshing. Overall a well made Lager that is worth trying.

On draught at the brewery. A hazy, straw yellow-gold pour with a thin, ecru-colored head and a thin sheen of lacing. Its nose features lemon, grass, onion, cracker, and a hint of sweet citrus. The taste follows the smell and there are pleasing pepper and spice notes. The feel is lite and crisp with moderate carbonation, and the 7.3% ABV gives a nice pop for a lager. Overall, this is a big lager and a fine one! While it's not exactly poundable given the ABV, the flavors more than compensate.

Happy to add this DOUBLE LAGER at my favorite local brewer in my home town: Carton Smash the Golds in collaboration with Barrier (Long Island) - 2 great innovators of craft.
a) clear lager golden body sports a white firm head that lasts and laces.
s) Aroma is intensely leafy and fresh, Fruity yet light, tropical fruits, onion, grass, lemon, pineapple.
t) All the above is the right answer, but the sum is greater than the parts, waves of fruit and light grassy flavor waves. Golden waves.
f) Yeasty, lighter, brighter than ale. This is clean, light, well-matched to food.
o) One of the best double lagers ever.
