Each autumn’s hop harvest presents an opportunity to assess yearly variation in flavors. Some are broad across all the plants in a region, others are specific to unique clones and certain farms. Each fall we choose two different varieties to add to our Harvest Ale. The first we receive straight off the bines and add it wet in the whirlpool. The second we add whole cone as a dry hop. Our base is a simple pale with a touch of rye spiciness to be seasonally appropriate with enough heft to support the selected hops while otherwise existing to flaunt the year’s crop’s nuances. Harvest 2018 was wet hopped with Hopsteiner Lemondrop from River Ranch and dry hopped with Experimental #07270 from Emerald Ranch. Drink Harvest because it is a fresh taste of things to come.

Pours a fairly clear dark yellow with fine, soft head.

Smell is citrusy and spicy, with the distinct pepperiness of rye and a hint of spruce.

Taste is peppery and citrusy with notes of rye, rye bread and some pine. Bitterness is moderate and well balanced and there is a creaminess to the whole thing.

Mouthfeel is medium, creamy and well carbonated.

Overal, a really nice rye beer, spicy but easy to drink.

A: Hazy gold with rich white head and good lacing.
N: Lemon, spice, hops, and floral.
T: A zesty lemon hit, nice hops, spicy, and bitter/dry.
M: Medium
O: I really liked it just wish it was a little less bitter/dry. Smoother would have done wonders but still a good beer.

Appearance: yellowish orange in color with a 1/2" head. Some lace develops.

Smell: soft citrus and earthy tones are picked up by the nose.

Taste: caramel, grapefruit, lemon zest, green grapes, spicy rye, and an earthy and woody bitterness.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer. Crisp throughout. Light dryness late.

Overall: an enjoyable ale that is easy to drink and satisfying.
