There are few things as germane to the Jersey experience as trips to Florida, when winter’s cold really gets rolling. As a kid to see relatives, as a young adult to revel in the warmth with friends, and as a grown-up to get away from it all. EWR-MIA is about those wintry Jersey things you drag along on the flight south at the top of winter- cranberries for stringing to a spruce. Both are added to a sprightly Highlander base for a lighter-on-season alternative to typical winter flavors. Drink EWR-MIA when it's time to change the forecast.

(16 oz can, date/code smudged on bottom; recent purchase from Total Wine... poured into a 25 cl St. Bernardus chalice)

L: polished-clear, golden amber liquid; the little bit of foam on the pour dissipates, leaving a think collar; no lace

S: no spruce tips or cranberry leaping out; basic (kettle?) Berliner weisse aromas, with the wheat and clean, restrained lactic funk most prominent... the spruce does eventually become detectable, though faintly, notably coming up and out through the nostrils in the aftertaste

T: yeah, the spruce is definitely there, even lingering throughout the finish, though it's not at any dominant intensity... a few sips in and a 'cherry 7-up' note starts building in the aftertaste, sort of replacing the spruce... the mellow wheat character is lovely, perhaps enlivened by the quite ideal measure of acidic tartness, not Warhead-bracing, just short of Granny Smith, which (apple, dry cider) is halfway through becomes a dominant... fruity flavors noted, it's perfectly dry

F: light-bodied, lightly slick, quick finish with a touch of sizzle at the end... mild lip-smacky sticky film left on the palate... invigorating enough, waking the face on this dreary morning

O: it's not revelatory, and I'm disappointed the spruce and cranberry didn't pop more, but I would definitely buy/drink this again, if it weren't for the ridiculous price tag (>$5 for 16 oz was it?) ... hmm, we'll see (1759)

Can dated 3/18/20. Poured into Lower Forge Brewery sour glass. 1F white foamy head, but poor retention and no lacing or ring. Beer is a slightly hazy light golden color with carbonation bubbles on bottom. Nose is cranberry, light wheat and malt, and very slight pine. Taste is similar, pine a bit more assertive on finish, cranberry more assertive at open. Light bodied, well-carbonated, fairly crisp though a bit more watery than it should be. Nice take on a Berliner, would be a good summer drink as well.

Pours a translucent straw with a finger of white foam that fizzles away fairly quickly. Aroma is tart cranberry and very light spruce. Flavor profile is cranberry, spruce, strawberry and lightly bready malts. Mouth feel is medium-thin with a fuzzy, still texture. Overall, very light cranberries and spruce within a lightly tart package. Very enjoyable.

Served in a 15.5oz Speiagalu tulip from a 12oz can.

16 oz can. Another one from the cooler at my brother in law's Memorial Day party.

Straw colored, which surprised me. I thought it would be reddish or pinkish from the cranberries. Guess I should have read the can where it clearly said "3 SRM." Huge fluffy white head that dies down eventually.

Love the aroma on this one. Sour citrus, juniper/gin, and wheat malt.

Tart fruit flavor with a wheat malt backbone. I wouldn't be able to pick out spruce, but it's in there if you know to look for it. Medium-light bodied. Juicy and tart in the finish.

Enjoyable summer beer here. You know you're always going to get something interesting with Augie's creations.

Clear wheat colored body with thick white foam on top. Aroma of sour fruit, cranberries, wheat, stale something?, grass, lemon skin. Tastes of sourness, light fruit: pears, green apples, cranberries, lemons, wheat, light grass. Light bodied with zesty carbonation.

Pours semi opaque 3 on the SRM. Nice white quickly receding foamy head. Smells citric, muted hops. Tastes sour and well put together, baguette, cranberries, mild lemon zest. Feels well carbonated and finishes dry. Overall a really good beer for when you want to keep the ABV low

The pairing of JerseyMiami is a 1+1=3 like so many collaborations.
Thrilled to be the 1st reviewer.
The strength of this spruce goose brew is intense for a little 3.9% ABV.

a) thin light cloud of yellow amber body with thin head by constant rim.
s) Wine-like, sauvignon blanc, dry, spirited, gin and juniper.
t) More, ample, and probably really healthy, but all the above in a powerful fistful of herbs and winter-summery sunshine.
f) Light, astringent, cleansing, scrubbing.
o) Beats any other spruce beer I've tried, so you try it too!
