(16 oz can, Journey Began 5/17/25; purchased 4-pack off shelf at Total Wine... poured at 54 F into a tulip pint)
L: tight, almost moussy white foam, builds high on the pour... clear yellow-orange liquid with a mild unfiltered haze... looking a little closer, there is a speckled sediment suspended... big craggy cap maintains, lacing on levels with calligraphy-like looping
S: crackery toasty malt forward, old suede car upholstery, hint of Thin Mint?, maybe later a whiff of orange peel... intense hopping leaves an everlasting evergreen leaf-sucking static feeling like its penetrating the nasal cavities through osmosis... hopping colors harken more to some Cascadian Dark Ales, interesting
T: hefty hop buzz, candied citrus peel washing through on the bottom, spicy-herbal bitterness blasting the palate roof, never really going away, building a green oniony acidity... little to no malt sweetness, only faint artefacts of crusty bread in the background
F: steam from the aggressive bitterness sort of singes the palate roof, tingling long and curling a little up through and alighting the nostrils, all while a subtle resinous slickness quietly slides across the tongue before clipping hard in the aft... the sediment may be slightly tangible... overall real dry but not quite AAL dry
O: while the bold attack of rusticly bitter and toasty expressions doesn't always work in their Whip series, it strikes a beautiful chord in this style... it's not a typical Blonde Ale as it has some curious character parallels to Black IPAs (2483)
