16oz tallboy to my FW imperial nonic glass
Notes taken from 01/28/2015

A: Bright straw yellow with some mild hop haziness through the body. Nice effervescent action building up to a dense white cloud of foam over top. Superior hang time here with some messy tracks of lace running all across the glass wall.

S: The aroma is piney and dank with a touch of floral qualities and some orange cream mixed in. I get some mild honey malt like sweetness to this as well. Nice nose overall I would say. Very clean yeast there and vibrant with the hops.

T: The taste is a bit boozy for me. Definitely a big hitter here. Lots of malt flavor has you thinking of a lager. Somewhat honey sweet with a nice bready backbone. Smooth however with a nice creamy orangesicle flavor, grassy hops, and floral hops with mild dank qualities to it. Less pine than the nose lead on. There is a moderate amount of bitterness to this and it is fairly clean overall without much linger action. Nice at times but also kind of big and wonky. A little on the fence with this one.

M: Moderate filling body with a very smooth consistency across the palate. Not all that bitter or resinous. Light drying towards the finish. Pretty clean overall.

D: I love me some IPL’s and I found this one to be okay. Some nice hop flavor but too big to be very sessionable. Would still have again…I mean might as well right!

Pours three fingers of head on a hazy straw body.
The aroma is strong pine and grapefruit, a little danky.
The taste has a solid bitter vein, but balanced.
The texture is thicker for a lager.
Tasty.

look-color is a slightly hazy straw, pours a finger of white, fizzy head that settles into a nice layer of permanent lacing, lots of bubbes in the beer rising to the surface.
Smell-grain, grass, orange juice.
Taste- mild hoppy earthiness, lager yeast, crackers, a kick of orange juice.
Feel-light/medium body, finishes bubbly on the tongue.
Overall-Interesting beer, i like the orange juice kick. happy i tried it.

Type: 16-oz. can
Glass: Firestone pint glass
From: Trader Joe’s in Mission Valley (San Diego), Calif.
Price: $2.88
Purchased: Jan. 7, 2015
Consumed: Jan. 8, 2015
Misc.: Born on Sept. 23, 2014 at 3:46 p.m.

Poured a golden, yellow color with 2-to-3 fingers of frothy, white head. Occasional bubble streams coming up from the bottom of the glass. Sporadic layered lacing along the sides of the glass. Above average retention. (Sight - 4.00)

Smelled a nice whiff of sugary floral hops up front. Also Citra hops, sharp grapefruit, tropical hops, pineapple, orange zest, caramel, lemon, light rye hops, Columbus hops, lime, Mountain Dew soda late and I think some menthol. (Smell - 4.25)

Tasted Citra hops, grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, tropical hops, light peach, caramel, lime, wet Cascade hops, some booziness, lemon zest and light woody notes. (Taste - 4.00)

Light-to-medium body. Thin-to-oily texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt, bitter, watery finish. (Feel - 3.75)

This was just a really good American Pale Lager. I feel like I even underrated it a tad. Great beer. (Overall - 4.00)
