Opened up after adding two years, this beer was surprisingly good. Opened to an explosion of foam, but settled down in the glass after 5 minutes.

What remained looked like a typical brown quad, but it tasted surprisingly a touch sour, like Brett got into it. Very nice, smooth mouthfeel, not many notes of barrel or rum. Enjoyed it a lot

Been aging this is my cellar all winter, thought a rare April snowstorm would be the time to break it out; drank in a tulip glass on 4/4/16; despite the middling reviews and ratings, I enjoyed this beer; the rum barrels provided a smooth, sweet addition without being overpowering

Boozy, Huge, Balance, Fun

To first point out the obvious, this is a massive ale. Slumbrew’s Yankee Swap changes from year to year, and for 2015, they went with a rum-barrel aged Quad. Toasted wood, booziness, and the hefty malt profile takes more than a few sips to decipher. The rum character may be subtle but the barrel flavor and the complexity of a full on Quad really make this beer what it is. Warming but not hot, and not sticky sweet either, this beer wears a full malt jacket.

Earthy, super oaky, and some dark fruit. Super carbed. There is a certain twang to it. Restrained sweetness. I don't know. This is totally different from what I was expecting. Disappointed that there is basically no rum barrel flavors except oak. This is the 2nd dud in the Yankee Swap series. Last year was infected. Please bring back the quality of the 1st one that made me love that beer.

Classic light ring head seen on Belgian Quads.

Coffee...Sweet...Fig...Bitters

Would like to see some more action with the body and appearance. Was intrigued for instance by the Trappist Monk appearance and head.

Overall not bad, very good. Local up and coming Brewery from Somerville MA

I don't see a date but this just hit shelves.

A: Dark brown pour with a mid-sized fluffy light brown head. Not much in the way of head retention or lacing.

S: Big fruity aroma. Lots of raisins, plums and figs I'd say? Even get grapes in there. Lightly spicy and earthy. Cloves maybe? Sugary sweet.

T: Huge amount of super sweet candied fruits. Like fruit syrup. Strong oak and spiced rum kicks in immediately afterwards. Interesting contrast. I'm not sure if it's spiced rum or if there are winter spices added. Kinda reminds me of nutmeg and allspice and cloves but maybe it's my imagination. Big, sharp spice character though with that ultra-sweet fruity syrup in the background. Very drying finish.

M: Heavy bodied. Very dry finish.

O: Very interesting brew. Big contrast between two extremes - the dry spices and the super sweet fruitiness. Honestly it's a bit too much of a contrast, the flavors are just too radical. The aftertaste especially is a bit rough. Not a huge fan.

Poured a dark chocolate brown color in a Moa snifter with a 1/2 F head. Carbonation bubbles
on the top of beer just below the head.

Excellent aroma: Plum, rum, oak.

MF- very carbonated, light body. I like the strong carbonation in this beer, which is less common in the style.

Taste: transitions well from the aroma: Plum, oak, raisin, rum.

Pleasant bitterness, carbonated finish.

Overall: quite excellent. One of the better American Belgian style quads I have tasted. The rum is a strong component. I especially like the transition from aroma to taste. I will look for a bottle to cellar.

From the 2015 650 ml. bottle. Sampled on December 11, 2015

It pours reddish-brown with a small, short-lived tan head. No lacing that I could see.

The aroma has an array of pleasant characters including sweet roasted malts, rum, wood, and just your basic sweetness all around.

Medium body.

The taste evolves almost like clockwork. I get the same sweet and malt characters in the taste but there is this delayed booze or hop reaction at the end that brings it to a dryish finish. It happens every time after a few seconds. AS far as Quads go, it is missing something but it is relatively easy to drink considering it is 12%.
