Served from the tap in a shaker pint glass at the Tighthead tap room.
Still chilling with friends, trivia-less, watching the Cubs (sorta), and happening upon a local roggenbier. Hell to the oh yes! This guy pours a hazy straw topped by a finger of soapy white foam. The nose comprises cracked wheat, light sweetbread, light sourdough, clove, a hint of lemon zest, and a smattering of sweet flowers. The taste brings in more of the same, the clove coming in stronger, spicier, nicely balancing out the citrus and wheat. There's a vague rye sensation, but it's not exactly prominent. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a liquid feel. Overall, a solid roggenbier, though one that seems like it needs some more rye bite to it. Still, it's eminently drinkable, and I hope it hangs around here for a while (especially considering the fact that Tighthead hasn't tossed us a straightforward hef just yet).
