On tap at the brewery.
Pours with a fine, clear but lightly hazy amber body.
Unusual but appealing aroma.
The flavor is stronger than the aroma suggests.
Medium body with light carbonation.
Overall: fine aroma but less appealing flavor; this reverse of many saisons.

"This year's anni ale has everything in it but the pitch fork and a bale of hay. With over two months of fermentation and cellaring time, this saison plows the field as it harvests spicy farmhouse overtones from its primary Fraunch saison yeast. That funk monkey delivers a strapping alc 9% by vol, seeding a perfect foundation for secondary Brettanomyces fermentation, which hoes a cornucopia of tart and effervescent flavors. Distinct citrus notes from the finishing hops cultivate a naturally freaky fresh palate tweaker." Brewed in the style of a Farmhouse Ale, available in 22 oz. bottles and on limited draft. 17th Anniversary one-off release.
Poured from a 22 oz. bottle to a tulip glass. Served above degrees Fahrenheit.
(Appearance) Pours a crisp, fizzy head of an ecru-straw white tone over a moderately hazy sunset amber body with light, relaxed carbonation and moderate, pulpy sediment in tow. Retention is average and lacing is light and spotty. 3.5
(Smell) Sweet cereal wheat and pale malt forward with a moderate graininess. Shallow yeast profile of spring fruit, grape and earthy spice, soft fermented honey. Very little to no Brettanomyces character nor funkiness of any sort, overall a largely clean aroma leaning suggestively towards syrupy sweet. Potency is moderate. 3.25
(Taste) Malted cereal wheat, pale and caramel syrup malts forward with a moderate viscosity and sweetness evident. Yeast characters of peppery spice, cider, light phenols and fruit juices, faint graininess and alcohol presence. Fairly juicy, sweet and clean without much developed yeast character. 3.5
(Mouthfeel) Texture is smooth, slick, lightly syrupy, clean and lightly dry. Carbonation is moderate, generating a moderate frothiness and a modestly crisp finish. Body is medium+ for the style and medium overall. Balance is grainy and sweet over peppery and earthy bitter. Alcohol presence is moderate and there are no off characters. 3.5
(Overall) A very simple saison with a lot of malt sweetness, grain alcohol and Belgian fruit yeast flavor forward, but not a lot of saison character to balance it all out. Although the Saison style is a difficult one to master, this one reeks of inexperience with the lighter Belgian Styles, with a reliance on malt volume and a lacking yeast strain, making for an uninteresting and cloying drinking experience. I don't know of SweetWater to commonly dabble in Belgian styles, but I'd have expected something much more solid with 17 years of experience put in. 3.5
