Style: American Brown Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.20%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
An "India Brown Ale".

Oh me oh my… what did we do?
We fired up the skillet to 420°, tossed in a sizzling concoction of 2-row, Wheat, Pale Chocolate, Cara-Brown and Midnight Wheat, then added in a hefty dose of hop hash and other dank-ish-ish-ish fixin’s to scatter, smother and cover this baby all the way.
Resiny, citrusy hops spice up the rich chocolate and caramel notes the malt brought to the mix, making this platter slide down the counter at 60 IBU’s.
Grains: 2-Row, Wheat, Pale Chocolate, Cara-Brown, Midnight Wheat
Hops: Mandarina Bavaria, Bravo, Hop Hash
ABV: 6.2% IBU’s: 60

Piney hops at first, then a sweet malt finish subtly featuring notes of cocoa. Very smooth, good amount of carbonation. Interesting, and a great combination of an IPA and a brown ale.

16oz draft pour into a pint glass shows a lovely clear shade of mahogany and floats a 1/4in creamy light tan head.
Little to no aroma, metallic, maybe.
Flavors are a mix of chocolate, vanilla, and caramel with a resiny hop bitterness on the back end.
Mouthfeel is crisp and clean, and appropriately light for the style.
I don't get what it wants to be, but I like the flavor, mostly.

11/11/16 notes - pours medium dark brown with touches of white foam. Malty nutty nose, like a brown ale, but faint. Starts bready and bursts into a resiny pine malt. Sharp tart citrus. Some cola/vanilla. Clever concoction. Well made.

12oz bottle into a pint glass. best by 11/29/16, so about 7 weeks late with this one.

amber brown body, frothy off-white head with good lacing.

some non citrus fruit aroma. a little on the "catty" side. no malt aroma.

a little spicy pepperiness. some piney resin. slightly sweet, which is the only hint of this being a brown ale.

medium to full on the mouth, slightly bitter on the finish.

overall, an odd beer. not much of a hint that it's a brown ale. but having said that, this doesn't taste at all bad, even with it's age. hop hash holds up nicely.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 10/26/2016. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy reddish copper/light brown color with a 2 finger fairly dense and rocky light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a thick cap that lasts. Nice dense foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, light pepper, pine, caramel, brown sugar, and toasted brown bread; with lighter notes of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, nuttiness, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/pine/earthy hops and dark/bready/light roasted malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, light pepper, pine, caramel, brown sugar, and toasted brown bread; with lighter notes of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, nuttiness, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine/citrus peel/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon/orange peel, pepper, pine, caramel, brown sugar, toasted brown bread, light chocolate/cocoa, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/pine/earthy hops and dark/bready/light roasted malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero astringent hop flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from bitterness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy/sticky, and lightly resinous balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6.2%. Overall this is a great hoppy American brown ale! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/pine/earthy hops and dark/bready/light roasted malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink. Very bright and pretty dank on hop flavors; but still really well balanced with the malt, and not overly bitter. A very enjoyable offering.

L - Brown with a touch of clarity, 1 finger of head and some sticky lace left all over the brew and the glass

S - Pine and citrus

T - Lots of citrus and pine, not too bitter. Not a lot of malt backbone.

F - Thin body and medium carbonation

O - A decent Indian Brown. Hoppy and drinkable

Pours a clear, brown color. One inch head of an off-tan color. Great retention and good lacing. Smells of roasted malt, pine,s wee malt, caramel malt, and slight yeast. Fits the style of an American Brown Ale. Mouth feel i sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. There is also a strong bitterness. Tastes of roasted malt, pine,s wee malt, caramel malt, earthiness, and slight yeast. Overall, good appearance and body, but the blend is too roasted and too bitter.

Bottle into a snifter appears dark copper to brown in color, perfect clarity with a khaki head resting atop.

Aroma is citrusy with a bit of minerals. Slight fruity quality before a bit of carbonics.

Taste is bitter and carbonic with mineral flavor being the lead characteristic before grassy bitterness. Very mild toasty grain presence.

Medium in body with modest carbonation. An average brew all around.
