wow, high hops continues to impress me, and this is one fantastic beer! fashioned as a scottish wee heavy type, its brewed with a ton of sweet potatoes, an awesome fall release. it doesnt have much head from the tap, but has an amazing deep copper to mahogany color to it, and some couldiness there too. smells like cinnamon bark and honestly quite like a pumpkin beer, u get plenty of the darker sweeter grain, definitely a scottish type as a base beer, lots of body and sugar, some earthiness, and maybe even a little wood and smoke. the cinnamon is quite prominent, and you really can taste the sweet potato, which i think is so unique and well executed here. i love the way the spice and the malt work with the potato, really nothing quite like this on the market. even though it doesnt have much head, its carbonated well, and it never feels heavy. perfect for a cold evening in the fall. i was also amazed to learn its as strong as it is, its definitely not detectable while drinking it, thats for sure. brown sugar and clove and almonds and sweet malt are all there in the finish, and a starchy residue is left on the palate, comforting and warming after the swallow. i have liked all the beers ive had from these guys, but this might be their best work to date. one of my favorite seasonal beers ive had this fall. well worth seeking out.
