On tap. Pours a golden color with a foamy head and some lacing. Aroma is muted with a faint sweet potato grain and bit of spice. Taste of sweet potato, bit of spice and grain in the background. Mild bitterness and a fairly clean finish. Moderate body, smooth and a subtle sweetness. Nice beer, better than a number of pumpkin beers I have tried.

Very strong sweet potato flavor, the underlying beer is good, just can't get past the potato

12oz can. Poured out a clear, golden amber color with a small, khaki-colored head of foam. It left minimal lacing. It smelled of spices, sweet potato and bready malt. Sweet breads, sweet potato and fall spices blended together very nicely. Minimal bitterness.

really rad little fall seasonal here. i think the flesh of the sweet potato is considerably more flavorful than the flesh of a pumpkin, at least in raw form, and it really is showcased well here. somewhat lighter than expected, pale orange to amber in color with fine clarity. it smells and tastes like a mix of fall baking spices, cinnamon and clove for me, maybe a little honey type sweetness, but the sweet potato can definitely be appreciated here, no doubt about it. earthy and sugary, slightly nutty, high starch, a neat base, and cool with the caramelized grain in here. i am impressed with how well the potato actually flavors this, more than most pumpkin beers out there. the spices are good, a little high, especially in the finish, where they kind of take over the more subtle sweet potato and grain elements, but the flavor profile of this beer is awesome overall. i also did not have the carbonation issues that others have mentioned, mine was bright and lively, with just a tad bi of bitterness coming on late and the spices lingering awhile. overall a great beer, and an innovative one. the sweet potato is about as forard as you could imagine it would be. awesome recipe, perfect for this time of year!

So, this brew is from a 16 ounce can...it has a muddy, murky complexion with a slim white head. Moderately low carbonation. The smell is of since...allspice, nutmeg, a touch of cinnamon. Although I didn't get sweet potato in the aroma, it is certainly there in the taste. The taste is sweet....hugely spicy, intense, and very sweet. The spice presents an almost 'hot' sensation on the tongue. Medium-full in body. It is satisfying, but would be too much to have more th an one.

Deep copper hued with lots of fine to moderate sized sediment. There's a trace of off white head on top. I smell cinnamon and nutmeg in the nose. It tastes like cinnamon and nutmeg with loads of it present. I don't think the sweet potatoes gave any flavor to this beer. The mouth is highly spiced and slightly warm. I've had some beers with sweet potatoes and many with pumpkin and this is underwhelming.

There's nothing more than a simple yet delicious beer with this one. I was expecting it to be comparable to a pumpkin, but it was much more (and to me, better) than that. It was uncarbonated and had me concerned at first, but that ultimately didn't make much of a difference to me. Once it warms up a bit, it has a bitterness to it but as a cold beer, it has a sweet nuttiness to it. Piney River has a variety of really good beer and this is another one that I would recommend.

A: Pours a slightly hazy orange with half a finger of off-white head that fades into a thin ring with no lacing.
S: Caramel malts, sweet potatoes, pumpkin spice, and some light nutty aromas here.
T: Light sweet potato flavors with pumpkin pie spices dominate with some underlying caramel malt flavors. The spice isn't too overpowering.
M: Medium body with lowish carbonation, this beer could use more body and/or carbonation to avoid being watery.
O: An alright beer, overall. A bit simplistic and undercarbonated, but still drinkable.
