Notes:
The name Pyrus originates from the genus of the pear tree. Pyrus is our Fall and Winter saison brewed with pear juice, whole white pepper corns, and the zest of fresh oranges. Pyrus pours a hazy golden hue, with aromas of pear, citrus, and spice. A perfect compliment to seasonal fare.

Clear golden color with a shy white head. Aromas of pear, bread, yeast, and some floral esters. Taste was pears up front, but with some complexity - yeast, bready, and floral notes.

22oz bottle poured into a snifter.
(A)- Pours a clear yet pale orange color. Minimal white froth.
(S)- A big combo of white pepper and pear. Smells a bit sweeter for the style.
(T)- Again, big flavors of pear, orange, and white pepper with a drier finish.
(M)- A good carbonation level. Very fruity and peppery for a saison.
(O)- It is just a little too fruit forward for this to remind me of a true saison.

This beer, from a 22 ounce bottle, is a tawny clear liquid. Absolutely no head, and very, very slight carbonation. The smell is slightly sweet, with a hint of pepper and fruit. I didn't get pear at first, but it did come out after the taste. The taste is winey, and has under-ripe fruit flavors. There is not sweetness, but a little madera-like scents. Medium in body. Interesting, but not exceptional.

This one is pretty funky, more so than I like. It seems to have some of the same funk that brettanomyces yeast gives off, not sure if that is even in this brew, but it tastes extremely similar. Not a fan of this, and the pear is pretty much nonexistent. I really expected to taste more pear. Also, even though the ABV is not exceptionally high, there was still a noticeable amount of booziness coming through.
I have had this and their Opus Saison and I must say that Opus was the preferred one. Opus was fantastic, this was not.
Would Drink Again: No

Light straw yellow, with little head totally clear, no haze at all as the description would state... Smell was strong of peppery spices. Taste was spicy, and the peppery notes were apparent. Had an earthy taste I cant describe, something from a Autumn seasonal. Tang came afterwards of pear. Mouthfeel was on the thin watery side. Carbonation was good. Overall the spice notes overtake the pear flavor, which only came to me in the end of the drink. I longed for more pear, and less spicy to balance it out. Still, its pretty good for what it is, could just use better balance.

Haven't had much luck with 4 hands brewery been picking up some bottles of their amber and such and they exploded with carbonation. Thankfully this one is a tame 2013 bottle.
A - As expected a ton of carbonation but not overbearing since it's a 2013 vintage. Over an inch of head that takes forever to fade and little lace. Beer is a very hazy looking orange brown tint.
S - At first very overbearing strong Saison yeasts and peppery bite but in the glass I get more actual pear fruit and some orange peel.
T - Very nicely rounded with the flavor which I can agree it's a juicy overripe pear flavor. Yeast has calmed a bit and the white pepper still snaps with a very grassy pear skin flavor. Not bad.
M - Still very bubbly and bright but good carbonation it drinks smooth.
Overall I guess it was worth the 6 bucks for a discounted bottle of this stuff. A good tasting Saison with sharp orange peel notes and a very sweet pear flavor.

Pours an effervescent honey color with a sliver of beige head. Stays effervescent throughout, minimal head retention & lacing
S: Grassyness, orange peel, melony notes
T: White pepper, orange zest, pears & a little green melon up front & pear skin. Musty pear skins, a little white pepper & orange zest as this warms. Finishes with over-ripe pear, melons & white pepper
MF: Light/medium bodied, delicate carbonation, a little warming
A serviceable Saison, but not in my wheel house. if you like over-ripe pear, this is your beer

A: Golden orange clear with lots of carbonation, and a finger of fast fading yellow head.
S: Belgian yeasts, orange candy, caramel, a sort of strong chemical scent.
T: Belgian yeasts, orange candy, caramel, a sort of strong chemical taste. The negatives fade as this one warms to room temperature. White pepper, fruity, I suppose there is some pear but hard to distinguish it from this without knowing.
M: Medium thin, slightly syrupy body, medium high carbonation.
O: Well done brew. Got it at Whole foods in St Louis, same day (today) Aug 4th in St Louis. Glad to have found another local brewer this time through St Louis.
