this was my favorite of all the beers at ground breaker, amazing to even consider making a saison without wheat, totally gluten free, but they have done it, and they have done it brilliantly. clear for the style, but thats expected without the grain. the head is there though, not sure how they swing that. amazing nose of fresh spruce tips, pungent and foresty and really painting me a nice picture of the oregon woods in my head as i sniff it. a little starchy in the flavor and feel, lentils i think they use for this one, but there is a saison yeast in this that has some nice white wine and belgian qualities, and with the spruce thats pretty special. it drinks easy, lower in abv and almost too light in the body, but carbonation is better than the rest of their beers. a great use of the spruce in this one, and honestly, i dont even miss the grain. some of the other ones they do are more interesting sort of novelty beers to me, but this one doesnt seem like a "next best thing to real beer", it is real beer, and for a gluten free product, its just downright impressive. ground breaker has my vote for best gluten free beers in the world!
