DATE: June 28, 2024... OCCASION: setting the lake house music mix with a new GF beer that happened to be at Best Cellars in Succasunna--had to try it! GLASSWARE: Lindemans pokal... pours an active, bubbling, almost opaque caramel-orange body, upon which sits a finger's worth of thick, snow-white head... impressive out the gate... sorghum is present, which can intrude on the aroma, while its fruitiness mitigates the millet's mustiness... not alluring, but not a turnoff either... refreshing early, with a tinge at the teeth, and a swift flush through the mouth... its finish is a bit flat, but the overall effect is soft and pleasant, befitting the style...in fact, too often a fruited beer is now a sour...this offering is "just" a straight-up raspberry ale with enough backbone to keep it grounded... aromatic flowers uplift the profile, which effectively downplays the millet and sorghum... bubble gum can be detected too... a nice find--I want more of Ground Breaker to make its way to this side of the country!
