Medium brown color with no head. A very still beer.
Booze in the nose. Caramel malt.
Taste of alcohol, toffee, and caramel.
True to the style, not hoppy at all.
Just not as good as I was hoping it would be.

Bottled March 2015. "Barrel Collection." Drank CHRISTmas Day 2016. Solid. Not amoung the greats but familiar flavor suspects for the style. Toffee, bourbon, alcohol finish, caramel etc, etc.

On tap at Smog City Brewing in Torrance, CA.
Pours a clear dark orange with a foamy khaki head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Foamy streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, brown sugar, caramel, and dark fruit aromas. Taste is much the same with caramel covered dark fruit and wood flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of wood bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and sticky mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with a taste that is slightly more cohesive than the smell in my opinion.

On tap @ the source. This is the non-barrel aged version.
A: Pours a dark amberish/copperish brown with reddish highlights under a 1/4-inch thick white head which fades to the rim leaving spotty lace.
N: Caramel, toffee, antique library books and woven cloth.
T: Woody, caramel, sweet malts intertwinned with hedgerows by the castle up upon the rolling hills of emerald green.
M: Full body and semi-moderate carbonation. Smooth, oily, sweet caramel finish.
O: Very good. Goes still and seems sherry oxidized as warms.
