Collaboration with Topa Topa
Weekend Escape is a fantastic all day hoppy drinker. Big tropical fruit aromas of pineapple and lychee dominate with a healthy dose of pear and citrus to back it up. The pop of bitterness on the back end makes for a crisp and refreshing finish that keeps you coming back for more and the lighter ABV of 5% makes sure you can drink plenty of it. Cheers to our friends at Topa Topa and the Marine & Wildlife Institute!

Frothy snow white head; good production, retention, and lacing. Crystal clear and a pale gold hue.
Super dank and herbal aroma, reminiscent of peak dank Mosaic or El Dorado. While there's a bit of citrus and tropical fruit behind, the emphasis is clearly on peppery, resinous dankness. It's not really my thing, but it's clean, impressively aromatic, and will likely appeal to many.
Given the low ABV and West Coast styling, this is naturally a bit watery on the palate. The dankness of the nose is fully translated onto the palate; this is the secondary MJ smoke of a live Wu Tang show concentrated into liquid form ... and I don't particularly like that, but YMMV. It's very difficult to pick out the tangerine and lychee notes beneath. The only saving grace for my palate, counterintuitively, is the low ABV malt base: there's no punch or sweetness. Moderate bitterness.

16 oz can made 2/8/22, consumed 3/1/22. Pours the color of a Bud with verrrry slight chill haze, sudsy 2-finger foam with good persistence and a fair amount of lacing in a tall tulip glass. Not much smell. Thin-ish body. Some hoppiness. Not a lot of obvious flavor. If you are looking for a session beer, this one is fine,.... well, except it is still 5% ABV. It does go down very easily. If you want a full flavor/full body IPA with distinct smell/ flavors that go "wow" when poured, skip it.
