Smog Czech and Raul is on it like when his high school car - a 1986 Volvo 240 DL station wagon - actually passed it. And it’s like that; just how Raul’s whip didn’t bring the honey’s screamin’, I have to say nor would this beer. It starts off ok (like Raul). But then it ends on a bit of a syrupy note (like Raul when he’s being emotional… Hey, man, we all love). Anyway, this and that. That and this. At least at the end of the day, Smog Czech will do the trick (get Raul a lil faded).
Prost with the most. Oh shit, that’s German. Ayyyyyyyy!

Packaged on March 3 - enjoyed on April 26, 2026 - poured from a 12oz can into a 10oz mug.
Brilliantly clear candlelight body with a finger of weak soft peaks up top. Fine soapy lacing; good retention.
Crackery aroma with hints of flan, corn pudding, and white tea.
Pleasant layered malt character - light but with some complexity (hints of toast and chestnuts around the edges). Very low bitterness with a whisper of white pepper from the hops. While largely clean, there is perhaps the barest suggestion of diacetyl or DMS at the edges of perception suggesting imperfect lagering. Hints of stone fruit and green olive in the dry finish.
Light bodied, soft, yet refreshing with sufficient carbonation.
Though not at the top of the pack, this is a pleasing domestic take on the style and would make a good picnic beer.

I can hardly believe that they just made this beer. What an iconic name. Weirdly no canning date, I know Smog City is usually diligent about this... but it was from Trader Joe's and tastes very fresh.
Smells like a solid Czech style Pilsner. Notes of fresh celery, coriander seed, dried dill, and ground black pepper over a sweet, mellow barley malt base.
Very smooth on the palate. Lovely peppery spice up front, followed by malty sweetness and a grassy vegetal astringency on the finish. Clean and simple; hits the spot.
Absolutely crushable, medium light mouthfeel, This would kill with some pizza.
Fantastic pilsner. Love the marketing.
