Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a chalice.
Appearance: Pours a deep brownish ruby red with a moderate amount of bubbles. About one finger of light beige head that settles into a thin creamy layer. Leaves a lot of lacing.
Smell: A toasty and sweet malt driven aroma with hints of biscuit and caramel. Toasted malt with bready hints of biscuit, grains, caramel, nuts, and yeast. Sweet hints of brown sugar and subtle hints of orange, fig, and raisin. Hops are very light. A pretty solid malty aroma.
Taste: Like it smells, a toasty and sweet malt forward taste with notes of caramel and biscuit. Toasted malt with nice bready notes of biscuit, sweet caramel, grains, nuts, and yeast. Sweet taste of brown sugar. Subtle fruit notes of orange peel, raisin, and fig. Very subtle hops. A pretty solid malty taste.
Mouthfeel: Body is on the fuller side. Carbonation is moderate. Creamy and smooth with very little alcohol heat.
Overall: A pretty solid malty beer. Seems more like a Winter Warmer or Scotch ale but it’s pretty nice.

Imperial Red pours a dark reddish color with a small lacing head. There is a very weak malty aroma. The taste has big notes of alcohol, nice spicy roasted malty flavors. Good feel good body. Overall its a sweeter roasted red, with a nice warmth from the alcohol.

This is a pretty good ale but definatley NOT a red, there are almost no hops in the aroma or flavor to speak of, id say much more of a brown ale, malty and sweet.

Very malty imperial red that is low in the hop department. Well done and very tasty although not as hoppy as the style typically has. Very close to the Scottish Ale style.
