Angie's BOOMCHICKAPOP® and Mankato Brewery put their heads, and their ingredients, together to make BOOMCHICKAPOP® Farmhouse Ale brewed with - you guessed it - BOOMCHICKAPOP® popcorn!
When the snows thaw and the first crocuses bloom, Minneostans can’t wait toget outdoors. We brewed this light, refreshing craft beer to welcome spring and celebrate summer. We even put it in a can so you can POP it open at the lake, the game, or your own backyard.

Pale blonde color with effervescent bubbles forming a tall 2 finger head, with 80% opacity. Head leaves plenty of creamy lace on the glass.
Aromas of Belgian spices, yeast, coriander, and caramel corn. Marshmallow and banana, too.
Flavor is more of the same, with the yeast, wheat, white pepper, pretzel, banana, and clove.
Lots of carbonation here, in fact I think this is why it was so heady when poured. Overly carbonated, a touch burning in the tummy. A nice semi dry finish, though.
Boom Chicka Pop ain't bad. Can art was the best part of this, haha.

Poured from a 16 oz. can into a chalice.
Appearance: Pours a hazy golden orange with a lot of bubbles. Big three finger white head that settles into a thin creamy layer.
Smell: A spicy and bready Belgian style aroma with a scent of yeast, corn, and spices. Belgian yeast with a scent of peppers and clove. Malt scent of grains, biscuit, and cracker with some popcorn. Light fruit hints of banana, pear, and apricot. Sweet hints of candied sugar. A solid aroma.
Taste: Like it smells, a spicy and bready Belgian style taste with notes of yeast, spice, and corn. Belgian yeast with notes of peppers and clove. Malt notes of biscuit, cereal grains, and cracker along with some popcorn. Dried fruit notes of banana, pear, and apricot. Some candied sugar sweetness. A pretty solid taste.
Mouthfeel: Light bodied with a fairly high level of carbonation. Crisp and very smooth.
Overall: A solid twist on a Saison. Nice yeasty spice notes with a subtle note of popcorn.

somewhat better than expected for a beer that presents itself as a novelty item, one of my first from mankato. its clearish for a beer called a saison, just a little darker than golden without a ton of head on it, looks more like a blonde ale than anything though. the nose is corny right away, not quit fresh popcorn, but i get its role in this immediately. also possibly a little wheat, there is that crackery grain aromatic to this, with some sweetness in it as well. the flavor has some definite corn sweetness, and it reminds me more of a crackerjack or caramel corn than it does movie theater style with melted butter mostly due to the sweetness, which in this case i like and dont find offensive in the least. no yeast flavor at all, i would not list this beer as a saison. hints of butter and salty cracker later on in this, dries out a bit in the end, interesting beer, not as popcorn forward as anticipated, but its definitely there when you think about it. it could definitely stand a little more carbonation, but i like it overall well enough, decent execution of a goofball idea.

Boomchickpop pours a golden color with a huge lacing head. Aroma is buttery and spicy. Taste has a lot of spice, yeasty and a nice buttery aftertaste. Good body and feel. Overall really good, actually has some popcorn flavors that blend in nicely.

Poured from 16 oz can into shaker pint.
A: Pours clear pale yellow with high carbonation producing a 2+ inch bubbly white head. Decent retention.
S: Underripe citrus, popcorn, and dry toasted cracker.
T: Underripe citrus, white pepper, dry toasted cracker, sweet popcorn, and Belgian yeast.
M: Light body. Prickly effervescence. Dry and mildly sweet.
D: An interesting idea. The Belgian style farmhouse ale base could be better. A bit on the watery side.

This beer pours a murky golden color. The head was very thick, but dissipated fairly quickly. The nose is somewhat sweet smelling. The beer is fairly mild tasting. There's some sweetness to it. There's a slight citrus feel to it. Not bad. It would really taste good on a hot sunny day.

Pretty blase' overall. I suppose it is going in the session ale category so shouldn't expect too much.
The yeast aroma is neutral to a diaper quality (it's the image that popped in my head as I smelled it. KInda' of the clean disposible kind with a little yeast hanging in there).
Big large bubbly head that settles out very quickly to almost nothing. Yellowish and the yeast from the bottom dirties it up a little.
There is a nice lemon streak in the flavor. A more neutral yeast flavor too, with a little spice but it is subdued.
Lighter body and full carbonation. Dries out as it should. Light bitterness lingering.
Not bad but nothing great either. Not much for the corn. I suppose it was mashed with the grains and thinned it out a bit. Not picking up much that might be corn
