Yuzu is a pretty cool fruit. It's an intensely aromatic citrus fruit. We really like it for the subtle pine aroma it adds to this saison brewed with a spicy yeast. It's light, bright, with a lively effervescence. We're pleased with the way this one came out, hope you enjoy it as well.

Super carbonated, dry mellow citrus. A zesty spice with a fair amount of bitterness for a saison.

A- Pale yellow, thin white head, strangely not very bubbly
S- Light bready yeast. Sweet fruit, but I can't put my finger on the fruit (not very familiar with yuzu)
T- Light Belgium yeastiness, sweet fruitiness
F- A bit syrupy with the low carbineation
O- Drinkable, but sweet and syrupy

Poured from a bottle into a pint.
A. Pours a yellow/golden color and is hazy. White foamy 2 finger head that subsides quickly.
S. Yeast and citrus zest. Some lemon. I guess like it's supposed to smell.
T. Nice. Some bready yeast with a little spice but more lemon and refreshing citrus notes. It's sweet but not too sweet. Very refreshing. Some tartness. Slight green leafy and pine aftertaste. Balanced.
M. Medium bodied for a Saison with nice carbonation that chases the swallow. Some warming doing down. Finishes slightly dry.
O. Overall a very nice and balance Saison. Not too yeasty. Not too sweet. Not to tart. Just nice and balanced

22 oz. bottle, with Batch #627 printed on the label. Another new saison creation from Pipeworks, this one brewed with yuzu fruit. I'm usually pretty on-the-fence with Pipeworks' saison efforts, but I was a big fan of Pipeworks Citra Saison, so I'm expecting similar deliciousness here.
Poured into a clear balloon snifter.
A - It pours a nice bright cloudy golden orange body with about a finger of head that thins to a film and leaves behind good scattered spotty lacing. A bit of chunky yeast sediment displays itself on the second pour. Standard in appearance, but nice.
S - My god, the heavenly aroma. A beautiful burst of tart yuzu citrus. Tons of lemon, orange, kumquats, & citrus rinds, paired with the bready floral saison yeast. Mild floral alcohol fumes. A very wonderful aroma.
T - The taste follows the nose: packed with semi-tart yuzu citrus, lemon, citrus rinds, peaches, paired with the crisp herbal / floral & saison yeast.
M - The feel is smooth, crisp, creamy, & easy-drinking. Medium-bodied with excellent carbonation. Moderate 7.50% abv.
Overall, I'd say it definitely reminds me of the Pipeworks Citra Saison, only better. I wasn't a big fan of their recent Pipeworks Will's Super Awesome New Rad Saisonathon, but their more fruity / citrus forward saison efforts definitely do it for me. A stellar example of a saison from Pipeworks; can't wait to see what's next.
