Pours clear amber with a mid-sized white head. Stable Settles as a thin, patchy layer of foam unable of covering the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing.

Aroma is fairly intense with a rather strong sweet malty and fruity odor mingling with a more subtle citric scent. Sweet caramel and toffee. Peach and pineapple Grapefruit and lemon.

Light carbonation. Slightly the, oily, soft, yet lively and tingling texture.

Flavor is fairly intense with a rather strong sweetness followed by a stronger citric bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter. Lingers for a while. Finish is quite dry.

It might look tired on the can. But it does have a bitter bite.

S: super fruity hinting at apricot preserves, citrus, tropical fruit, and pine with a caramel malt base
T: quite fruity: apricot, peach, mango, candied orange & grapefruit, mild pine; caramel malt backbone adds some toasted grain sweetness
F: full body, ample carbonation, alcohol is well concealed, finishes more sweet than bitter

I thought an apricot-infused IPA would be a great start to the 5th of May. After being Pulled from the fridge, I let it sit, warming it up to 46 degrees. The pour created a frothy and creamy bright white one-fingered head. The retention is above average, leaving bits of lacing on the glass. The color charts around SRM 8 are golden yellow with amber hues. The clarity is clear with some carbonation. The appearance is above average for this style.
Nosing the glass, I smell apricots, peaches, mangos, pineapple, and flowers. I swirled the glass a bit more and detected crackers, lightly toasted malts, and bread. A straightforward imperial with an adjunct.
The flavors are much better but fruity. The addition of apricots gave this beer a sweeter profile against the hops. It is difficult to discern what is hops and what is adjunctly brought to the party. The flavors are pineapple, peaches, apricots, mangos, orange, grapefruit, and floral. The malts are bready and lightly toasted.
The mouthfeel is tannic and sweet, finishing dry. The body and carbonation have a medium body.
The addition of the apricots muddies this beer. The apricot already has this unique flavor; adding hops created something confusing to my palate. I wanted to enjoy it, but I did not.

 

 

 

 

 

I haven't found a Pipeworks fishy IPA that I haven't liked quite a bit. Great balance overall.

Features honey, apricot puree, and Citra hops but no actual Devil Firefish... I'm always afraid I'm gonna hate of of these beers with puree in it, but Pipeworks does a real nice job of keeping it together - fruity and mild, not too sweet, smooth and mellow... The fruit suggestions come across as tropical - I was thinking of mango and guava as much as I was apricot, and the honey is applied delicately, offering just a softening sweetness around the edges... Not particularly bitter, but again, not too sweet either... The soft, smooth, mellow fruitiness is almost like a fruit roll-up in beer form... I really dug it...

 

 

 

 

 

 

Pours a decently transparent orange pale body with a dense white head that lingers for a while. Aroma is sweet, spicy and piney. Flavor has definite alcohol booziness, light apricot with a medium big bitter bite at the end. Overall a nice double IPA.
