Bottled December 2016; drank 1/29/17 @ the Yarchives.
Black appearance.
A rough pour yielded a nice dark tan head; decent lace.
Chocolate, fresh earth & salted caramel notes in the nose.
Medium mouthfeel.
Fresh earth & salted caramel flavors up front; bitter bakers chocolate & booze heat notes on the finish.
A bit harsh for a porter; this didn't do it for me.

Little disappointed in this beer. When you see salted caramel you definitely expected to be a little sweeter. The Malt is a little disjointed from the beer. Maybe my bottles just a little old and I should have opened it a little sooner.

Tasted in a Spiegelau stout glass from a 1 pint 6 fl oz bottle on January 23, 2018. Look is nearly black brown with a thick tan head and lingering lacing. Smell and taste is chocolate and dark roasted malts. Feel is medium to full in body.

Pours a dark brown with a tan head. Dish soap lacing. Smell is chocolate and coffee. Taste is more complex with chocolate, coffee, salted dark malts, and a hint of molasses. Mouthfeel is medium and smooth. Overall I loved it.

22 ounce bottle into a snifter. Bottled 12/15/16, had 1/5/17.
Pours dark brown, opaque, oily looking, with a half inch head and some soapy lacing. Lightly roasted malts lead the aroma, then cocoa, chocolate, some caramel, a little smoke. The taste also leads with the malt, followed by caramel, cocoa, chocolate, light molasses, some saltiness in the aftertaste, a good amount of bitterness throughout. Smooth, creamy, a solid medium body, well carbonated.
A really nice porter, although less creative than expected from the description. Lots of cacoa in the flavor and aroma, and the caramel is pretty prominent, as well. The salt, not so much. Still, it's a typically solid effort from Pipeworks.

Don't taste the salted caramel. Heavy chocolate malt flavor. Dark color with a little tan head. Tasty but expensive when compared with other porters. Highly drinkable. Just not enough here to distinguish from other porters or Pipeworks beers to compensate for price.
