Our house standard saison built to be dry and expressive with multiple saison yeasts plus added complexity from two strains of brettanomyces.

Looks real hazy and yellowy.

Maybe it's me but I don't think I like farmhouse ales. It has this weird funky flavor to it.
Smells over fermented.
Tastes like wet hay. It's almost as if a porter and an IPA had a baby with that funky flavor to it.

The bartender I got the bottle from told me it was "chunky", which was difficult for me to wrap my head around.
But now I know. Something you can't drink real fast.

Handsome hazy yellow with a pile of white foam in Orval chalice. Sudsy and mellow in the mouth. A fat and wheaty sort of Saison. Quite spicy, like a Hefeweizen, with the melange of yeast. Flavors of clove and coriander.

This seems just a little overwrought. I usually don't complain about too much flavor ih a Saison, but this is complex to the max. Fruity, mineral, applesauce, blackberry seeds, Corn Chex, lemon rind, and so on. The usual Belgian dry finish. From the 500 ml bottle purchased at Elizabeth Station.

$ 8.67 (Including shipping)/500 mL capped bottle ($ 0.513) From Tavour, Seattle, WA.
Unable to locate bottling or BB date. Stored at 42 degrees and served at 54 degrees in a hand-washed and dried Jester King snifter.
Appearance – 3.5.
Body – Medium golden yellow, clear. Bottle conditioned.
Head – Large (Maximum five cm, controlled center pour), white, initially fizzy but then settling down to average density, short retention, diminishing to a two to to three mm ring and a thin partial layer.
Lacing – None.
First pour – Light golden yellow, clear.
Aroma – 3 – Upon opening, a burst of acetic acid. This disappeared with the head leaving a faint malt aroma.
Flavor – 3 – Malt backbone is apparent. No hops noted. A faint generic fruitiness is barely detected. No alcohol, no diacetyl, no dimethylsulfide.
Palate – 3 – Medium, watery, aggressive carbonation.
Impression and summation – 3 - Overall, a very ho-hum saison. I thought initially that this was brewed with magnolia flowers, but the website tells me that the brewery is in the Magnolia section of Seattle - not that I would know what a magnolia flower would taste like. This is probably the only saison I’ve had that tasted like malt and totally lacked any fruity-forwardness.
