Excellent beer, but holy cow the price for a four pack of cans. Great summer beer.

Refreshing hoppy loger with nice long hop bitter finish.

Pale golden with an amber touch in the Duvel tulip. Modest head but plenty of carbonation on the tongue. Light mouthfeel. Not particularly aromatic.

This is really hoppy, especially for the thin body. It's a really resiny and dry bitterness. Not a hint of fruit. The flavor starts out rather nice, with a hint of biscuits, but the bitter hops overwhelm.

Plain and harsh. I can't see why this should fetch 8 bucks for the 22 oz bottle. Bought at Bine & Vine in San Diego.

Pours a clear yellow-orange with a foamy beige head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, grass, and slight citrus zest aromas. Taste is much the same with malt, grain, and earth flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that has an earthy emphasis in the aromas and flavors.

Pours a golden colour with white head, fluffy, small bubbles. Looks nice, with good retention.

Smells a bit dank. Hoppy, with muted fruity notes, some dusty character, pineapple and a touch of brass. Subdued, not bad though.

Drinks quite metallic too. Decent hop character but a lot of grain that gets more pronounced late and lingers, with a brown kind of cereal character and a coating of hop resin. Bit spicy, a bit roasty, tastes nutritious but nevertheless a little sunken and heavy.

Bit heavy and thick on the feel too. Goes down OK but feels a bit full for what it is.

Not sure if I really like it. It hangs around for too long after the palate's otherwise done.

22oz hessian wrapped brown bomber purchased from Whole Foods Los Altos. Shared with Sam and Rich in Australia.

Pours a clear, bright golden colour with a pure white, slightly frothy head that settles out to a pocked film. Lacing is fine, but insubstantial, falling into a swathe of tiny dots. Carbonation is very fine. It looks pretty good.

Nose is clean and crisp, with a slightly herbal hop twang and a neutral malt character which never gets too sweet. Mostly, it's like a clean, bright pale lager, without any of the jagged nastiness you can get from a macro. Pretty decent stuff.

Taste is also good. I was expecting it to be a lot more straight down the line here, but there's a pronounced bitterness throughout which is very clean and direct, and amplified by the dry and very light body. Very crisp finish with vegetative hop notes and a suggestion of metal.

Feel is pleasant. Quite sharp and crisp, with a very fine carbonation underlining the hop bitterness.

Overall, I'm very happy with this. This is certainly hoppier than I was expecting, with a very pronounced bitterness that gives it its edge, and makes it very sharp and refreshing. Again, I'm pretty impressed with Ruhstaller. I'll definitely be grabbing a few more next time I'm in California.

Courtesy of JE. Thanks!

A: Pours a beautiful, clear pale gold color with a soapy one finger white head. Leaves just a trace of lace.

S: Cereal grain, lemon, lime, grassy hops and a trace of yeast. Smell is pretty solid.

T: Pale malt upfront with a grainy and dry backbone. A decent touch of piney and grassy hops come in near the finish and leave a trace of resin along with a hint of baby aspirin-like bitterness. Mouthfeel drags just a touch, but remains pretty refreshing. I could definitely take a few of these down on a hot day. Lacks anything to make it stand out above the rest, but a solid lager.
