Looks cool, like it has a purple filter on it to change the color. Vinous aroma. There's nice tartness upfront, but it is overwhelmed by the gruesome, tragic presence of wet cereal, cardboard THP character. What a disappointment.

On tap at Gold Star Beer Counter in Brooklyn.
Pours a semi clear yellow with fine, soft foam.
Smell is tart and vinous with notes of white wine, citrus and a hint of pepper and cloves.
Taste is tart with notes of dry white wine, citrus, apples, some hints of straw and funk, and nice acidity.
Mouthfeel is medium, well carbonated.
Overall, a very nice, interesting saison. One for the white wine drinkers perhaps?

Poured from a 750 ml bottle purchased from the general store in Ardmore. Straw orange color and hazy. Grapes up front on the nose bright and sour. Taste follows the nose with some citrus notes and barnyard funk. Soft mouth feel no doubt from the oats. Overall an,excellent expression of a wild saison.

merlot grapes i believe in this exquisite wild saison, one of my favorite beers i have had from these guys, and surprisingly taking no color at all from a red grape with a name like skin contact, but it doesnt matter, its delicious whether its golden or pinkish or whatever, it doesnt matter much to me. the aroma is super funky, well woody and full of minerals too, mature brett of various strains and a nice tannic bright grapey profile, very vinous, but not obviously merlot to me. the grape is really natural in the flavor, more fruit than wine despite the nose, and with a rather mellow funkiness to it, slight acidity, and high level minerality and oak. its complex and its delicious, although somewhat less grape forward than i thought it might be. i really like the wild elements and the wood together, and i think what the fruit adds is important. i do wish it had a more rousing carbonation on it, but the flavors are exceptional and it still feels light. overall a really fantastic saison, quite apart from anything else thats out there right now, and a beer i wish was regularly available here in colorado. super cool these guys came out for shelton fest and i feel lucky to have gotten to enjoy this one!
