Canned 8/14/20
I've had this one for a while, bought a 4 pack and didn't actually get around to reviewing it until the last one
Pours a cloudy orange copper with 2 finger of white head that quickly fades to a thin cap and leaves minimal lacing
This carries aroma of clean lager yeast, biscuity malt, wheat, honey, light earthy hops, and a hearty caramel malt backbone
The front end of the taste is where most of the hops lie in this one, balancing out the sweet crisp malt. A nice sweetness rushes in on the swallow, bringing notes of caramel, lager yeast, and a touch of pepper
A medium body combines with very light carbonation, resulting in a smooth crisp beer. Finishes nicely dry and sweet
A pretty good beer overall from Night Shift, though a little out of balance. They have much better beers

Canned on 8/17/20; consumed on 10/10/20
Pours a translucent orange-copper body topped with a finger of pillowy, off-white foam; sub-par head retention yields spotty, paper-thin islands of cap along with a slight, creamy collar and a limited spatter of webby lacing around the glass.
Aroma features a slight minerality and brown bread upfront, with touches of caramel malts within increasingly grainy quality into the middle; the bouquet resumes a more robust quality into the back end, with firm notes of bread crusts and lightly burnt toast alongside distant sarsaparilla to close.
Taste opens with a quick hit of brown bread and a heavily toasted malt profile, though quickly devolves to grassy notes meshing awkwardly with caramel malts over the mid-palate; minerality with hints of root beer comes through on the back end while a soft brown sugar sweetness and heartier bread crusts linger.
Mouthfeel brings a medium-light body against a hackneyed moderate-high carbonation spritzing inconsistently across the palate; a brief crispness over the mid-palate thins with a minor gritty heft the only thing keeping it from dying into the back end, which does eventually fade with a semi-watery finish/swallow.
A Märzen with its moments, however fleeting, it is entirely drinkable but an overall sloppy example of the style, with a general inconsistency largely outweighing any sparks from a vaguely robust malt profile.

Poured from a can, fresh this season.
It's a solid amber Marzen, with a bright hop character. Flavors start a bit fruity, spicy, with deeper caramel malt tones in the finish.
Pretty good, glad I picked it up!

An average pour from a 16-oz. can produced a finger of off-white soapy foam with short retention and arches of lace. Copper penny color (1/2 original luster) with amber highlights.
Old wheat bread and medicinal hops greet the nose with a light toasted malt aroma, faint banana and clove, and a secret sweetness in the background.
The taste is neutral with medium-low bitterness, toasted and caramel malt (crystal malt?) battle with toasted the victor. Faint general mellon and stone fruit try for sweetness. Hops are now herbal and milder than in the smell. The finish is short and semi-dry with a mild aftertaste lingering a minute or two. Alcohol is well hidden.
Medium-light body, below average carbonation. Nice malt backbone and session-able, more Festbier than a Marzen. Hop bitterness is on the low side and does not increase.
