A - Hazy golden yellow, huge white head. Dissipates slowly, little lacing.

S - Spice, yeast, pepper.

T - Floral, spicy hops up front, followed by the coriander. It's a taste shifter.

M - Light body, medium carbonation.

O - Interesting for a cross style brew. The bottle presentation was what drew me in. Champagne style cork and cap. I'm not disappointed, I'm satisfied. No need to try again though.

Appearance: It has a nice hazy deep golden/orange color to it. It has a nice thick white head that dies down moderately and leaves some nice lacing.

Smell: The aromas definitely give out hints of Belgian yeast, floral hops, bready malts and peppery spices.

Taste: Like the aromas, it has some yeast, bready malts, floral hops, faint citrus and some peppery spices.

Mouthfeel: It has a low/med carbonation with a nice overall balance and feel.

Drinkability: It's a very smooth drinkable beer accompanied with good flavors and aromas.

With all the hype around this brewery, I've had one terrible beer, and one awesome beer. This looks to have bad reviews, but I'll make my own opinion. Batch 3 bottled on 5/10/13

Pours a nice creamy 1+ finger head that fades at a med pace then quickens, leaves bits of lacing but not much, over semi hazy slightly copper honey orange color.

Nose delivers exactly what it says on the label, starting with a Belgian IPA, some Belgian yeast esters and light phenols, light spicy earthy hops with a bit of a citrus orange peel, then just as quickly it turns to the spices, coriander is very strong, as well as the cardamom as it comes out behind the coriander, and both are way too much, overpowering the subtleties of the what could be a good beer underneath. A slight green stem aroma in there too.

Taste starts again with the Belgian characters, light golden blond malts with some sweetness, and into the yeast esters quickly, with a touch of phenolic twing, then right into the spices, a little less dominant this time but definitely there, with a strong coriander right away, and a bit more subtle cardamom on the back end but also def there. Hops kick in with a mild citrus and spicy, but turn a bit earthy and slightly vegetal strangely. Some bitterness from the yeast, but the cardamom also seems to bring a little bitterness. The esters and phenols from the yeast strain started OK, but the more I drink and the more it warms they remind me of the Trifecta and start to get a weird chemically flavor and unpleasant. Light orange peel and again green stem round off the flavors. finish is long and fairly bitter, more spicy hops, with more of the chemically phenolics lingering too.

Mouth is med bod, decent carb, light sticky finish.

Overall not very good, the spices are way too strong, the hops are way too light and barely do anything, I barely get any Cascade goodness, the house Belgian yeast I assume adds these weird chemically phenols that I really don't like. I hope the other two beers I got are better.

Poured from a 750ml bottle into a tulip glass

A - pours a hazy, golden orange color. about a finger and a half worth of head. nice lacing

S - very interesting smell. citrus, hops smell with the spice really coming through up front. a really great smelling beer.

T - this has a great taste to it. the hops are really present with the citrus really coming to the front and the middle of the tongue. At the back of the tongue the spice comes through with some cinnamon, not overpowering but really adding to the taste of the beer. Great tasting belgian IPA.

M - semi-dry finish with the aftertaste of the spice in the beer.

O - I really enjoyed this offer from Night Shift. I've had different belgian IPAs before but this was the only one that really stood out with a unique flavor to it. The taste of the spices really throws a unique taste to it. Will definitely purchase this again.

In a snifter the beer was a bright gold color with minimal head.

The aroma was that of citrus and spice. Somewhat earthy.

Grapefruit taste. Coriander. A little bit of late funkiness.

This beer was more spicy than hoppy. Pleasant. I had some on tap at the brewery, and liked it more than the bottled version.

A- hazy orange and golden color large white fluffy head
S- floral hops, spices, coriander, orange peel
T- coriander and spices, bitter floral hops, citrus, lemon peel
M- thinner body with generous carbonation.
O-Shining example of what you expect from a Belgian IPA. Lots of spice balanced by a generous amount of hops.

Fresh bottled batch from 4/5/2013. 11 days old. Batch 1.

A: Pours a cloudy golden-orange pour. Huge fluffy white head. Leaves nice light and fluffy chunks of lacing everywhere as it slowly fades away. Nice head retention.

S: Huh, interesting aroma. Citrusy with lots of oranges. Coriander, lots of it along with a bunch of spices. Very floral, almost a lavender type aroma. Some ginger? Maybe that's the cardamom.

T: Citrus up front but then the spices kick in quickly. Loaded with coriander and ginger. Big waves of spices and then bitterness from the hops. Still get some floral qualities too, especially in the finish. Not unlike chewing on rosepetals or something along those lines. Black pepper mixes in in the finish and lingers for a long time in the aftertaste.

M: Medium bodied and smooth. Quite bitter, spicy and drying in the finish.

O: Well, like all Night Shift brews the adjuncts are strong in this one. Huge amount of spices both from the adjuncts and from the belgian yeast. Hoppiness seems to only amplify the effects. Honestly not bad, a bit overpowering so I have to detract some points but it's still unique and not unpleasant.

32oz growler filled at the brewery the night before, less then 24 hours old. Reviewed from notes taken at our tasting last night. Poured into Teku glass.

A- Pours slightly hazy but transparent golden with about a finger of bubbly white head that recedes fairly fast leaving a flat top. Decent carbonation that holds up well with nice consistency.

S- Very floral with some light hops blending in. Aromas of coriander, rosemary, light lemon, orange peel, and other spices. Fairly aromatic and smells like a floral saison more then an IPA, pleasant smelling- I actually really like the nose on this.

T- Floral notes of coriander and spices, lemons, orange peel. Not your typical IPA, definitely reminds me more of a hoppy saison. Fairly flavorful, however I'm not a huge fan of these flavors in an IPA, definitely interesting though.

M- Fairly light, slightly juicy, easy drinking.

O- This is by no means my favorite Belgian IPA, however it was definitely interesting to try and served as a nice experimental beer. I can see how some people might love this beer or hate it based on their taste preferences. I'd recommend it to someone who likes saisons and beers that have a heavy floral/spice aspect to them. An interesting try, but don't expect your typical heavily hopped citrus forward IPA.
