Stopped by Monkish on the way up to my in-laws for Thanksgiving to pick up three 4-packs. This one was called a “DDH DIPA with Citra, Enigma, Nelson Sauvin and Sabro.” That’s three great hops and Enigma, which I was vaguely familiar with. Looking it up it called for raspberries, red currants and white wine.

Poured a light golden hazy color with two fingers of frothy white head. Could see bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. Excellent spotty lacing. Very good retention. (Sight - 4.25)

Smelled dank weed, pine, Nelson, white wine, viney berry, Sabro, cedar, melon, tangerine, Citra, grapefruit and wet grass. (Smell - 4.25)

Tasted even better than the nose. Wow. A lot going on even with it being canned on earlier in the day. Got Sabro, Nelson, Citra, dank weed, pine, white wine, viney berry, cedar, melon, mango, tangerine, grapefruit, papaya, stone fruit and peach skin. (Taste - 4.50)

Medium body. Creamy texture. Average-to-lively carbonation. Long, juicy finish. (Feel - 4.50)

Wow. Just a great hazy DIPA from Monkish. Excellent. (Overall - 4.25)

Pours a turbid, milky lemon-gold body capped with a finger of fluffy, near-creamy, white foam; solid head retention leaves a paper-thin layer of cap, an expanding, frothy collar, and webby, soapy layers of lacing lining the walls of the glass.

Aroma opens to lemon compote/yellow Starburst twang, sweetened with hints of mango and papaya as a tinge of white grape must carried an underlying dankness toward candied orange resins and pineapple zest on the back end.

Taste shows dank spice meeting pineapple juice upfront, with earthy guava rind and riper papaya finding mossy white grape over the mid-palate and bittersweet grapefruit nectar pronouncing through the back end with a light lemon twang on the finish.

Mouthfeel offers a medium body sporting a taut texture and resinously juicy characteristics as a moderate fluff of carbonation lingers persistently in the backdrop; an earthy bitterness cuts in on the back end, a slickness leveling the more raw hop tones into the finish.

Almost wildly expressive, presenting myriad hop notes in rapid succession against a backdrop wavering between juicy and bitter; packed with variety, though with less consideration toward the smaller refinements that would leave this more enjoyable as a whole.

Pours a pale, opaque straw with a finger of white foam reducing to a nice ring with lots of residual soapy suds. Aroma is melon, grape, citrus, and dank hop. Taste follows suit finishing juicy, earthy, bitter. Feel is silky smooth with a good carbonation bite. I liked it.
